R600 Pushed Back...

I was waiting for the r600 to come out before I built me a new computer but now alienware looks pretty good for my next high end computer...

heck no don't get alienware, even without the R600 you can still build a really good computer for cheaper than alienware can get you. Overpriced IMO

I do not understand how this could be a surprise to anyone. First Vista was delayed (again) then G80, and now R600.

It was inevitable, since they probably do not have DX10 figured out enough to make a fully functional product. Once Microsoft has their act together, then everything else will fall into place.

Plus this give ATi/AMD a good chance to add more features and not rush a bum product like Nvidia did with the stock-overclocked 7900's.

you don't just add features, the first spin of these products happens months before any hardware gets released, and the only thing that causes new spins is errata in the chip that cannot be ignored.

NV and ATI spend hundreds of millions on each new generation of hardware, at least in the case on the upcoming ones, so they don't commit to taping out first silicon until the feature set/chip design is well and truly complete.
