I seem to have a problem pushing the right button. I'll go take a nap now before I screw something else up.
Sorry.

Sounds possible to me, though I wouldn't be surprised if the R600 got delayed just like the R520.

TSMC and UMC will not be down to 65nm next year.

Hell Intel and AMD are just going 65nm that year... TSMC and other large fabs (like the ones Nv and ATi buy from) are always behind the curve.

Youll be lucky to see anything under 90nm for graphics cards next year.

Normally graphics cards do the little steps in between (0.15, 0.11), but there's nothing between 90nm and 65nm I don't think. 90nm seems to be what we'll be stuck on.
The specs do look possible for *a* 65nm chip, but the thought of seeing 65nm by the end of next year? Not hugely likely.
800MHz core a 90nm core might be doable if ATi can get some good work on th eprocess between now and then though.

lol lets first see the R520 before we start talking about the R600. 65nm is highly unlikely next year...yields would definetely be low and would cause problems the current R520 is having. 64 pipes also seems a little too off.

This is like talking about Quake 6 before Quake 5.

Cuz we've actually seen some of Quake 4.

Funny how they're talking about using the 65nm process when they can't even get the 90nm process to work for their current chips. I call major BS on this one. On top of that, 64 shader pipelines?? WTF is gonna come out within the next 2-3yrs that'll need that type of power and bandwidth? Better have fully dynamic HD games coming out running at super high resolutions for that to be feasible. At this rate, the card would cost about $1000. Sorry, but there's no way in hell i'd pay that much for a graphics card that will be obsolete in 6 months. I gotta pay for this damn GTO lol.

How much do people want to bet that there won't be 64 pipelines in the R600?

hmmm?????

48 pipelines max.

My bet is a million dollars.

Well if you really want to see what the R600 will somewhat resemble, wait for the specs for the R500 Xenos for the Xbox 360 to come out at the end of the year.

That would be more truthful to the R600 than these 'rumours'

If you are refering to the rumors of a unified 48 pipe + 12 vertex shadder = 64 pipes then you are probably right.

Err. the unified 48 pipes can do either pixel or vertex shading. So it doesnt need an extra 12 pipes for vertex shading.

Welcome to 2 weeks ago, someguy dreamt these specs up and all of a sudden they spread like wildfire as real specs.
