As a GTX 460 user who's getting constant nvlddmkm errors while simply browsing the internet using any driver newer than 314.22 WHQL (that's 13 versions ago!) I find this post amusing.

As a former GTX 460 user who didn't get the error at all while having the latest drivers for BF4, I find this post amusing.

But I kinda wish I had so I could have sent them my card for testing. ^_^

Well lucky you, but there are many others using the 460/560 GTX who are reporting the same issue.

Well the good thing is, nvidia asked for such users to send their cards in to be analyzed for testing as to discover the root of issue. They even sent "loaner" video cards out for those users, as well.

The important thing to note is that said users didn't get blasted on the forums insisting that it's 100% chance user error and that they fail at computers.

In all reality, you'd enjoy the 770 just as much as any other card. The 2GB is not going to limit you in 2-3 years, especially since you said you have no desire to play at absolute max and at 1200p.

So, may be I'll enjoy 760 just as much for a lot less?

You very well could enjoy the 760, it is up to you whether the performance difference is worth the money. The 770 comes with an extra game which can be sold for about $20, and they both come with the Holiday Bundle which can also be sold for about $20. This helps the cost a bit.

Looks like the 760 can be had for $240, then selling the games comes to $220. The 770 can be had for $300 (I would get the ASUS DCII though for $310AR), then selling the games comes to $260 (or $270AR for the ASUS).

Looking at the latest performance summary from TPU, the 770 is ~20% faster @1080p (source, 135/112 = 20%), which would be enough to sway me towards the 770.

Wait, GTX come with games? I thought it's Radeon thing...

Anyway, since I am not getting these in the US, I am doubtful I could swing the games as easily.

GCN has been in service since January 9, 2012. 2 years from now is November 24, 2015. That is a span of 3 years, 10 months, 16 days. The historical perspective is the Radeon HD 5xxx series. That series launched at September 10, 2009. Today it is 4 years, 2 months, 14 days old, and it has been having massive driver issues since at least last year.

That is the conundrum between purchasing AMD/ATi and Nvidia for the long term holders. AMD/ATi drivers turn to utter trash far faster, but Nvidia cards are designed to obsolete themselves by VRAM size.

I would >>still<< be using my GTX 460 if it wasn't stuck with 768mB RAM, however if I had purchased a 5xxx series I would have been screwed by the drivers far before the GTX 460's 768mB ram severely hindered operation.
As a 5 series owner I feel a bit cheated NOT getting those massive driver issues.
Mine must be a special one?:whiste:

Ah, didn't know you weren't ordering in the US. So I guess my prices won't matter to you either.

I'm not sure about the details of the game bundles, but they are probably worldwide.

Yeah, my main concern is - will I be able to play games like Diablo 3, Path of Exile and Torchlight 2 on reasonable settings (what is it these days? high?) and what would be considered the sufficient card (with some headroom for the future on similar games).

For those types of games a 760 is way more than enough.. and will have plenty of headroom for "similar" and more demanding games in the future.

Well the Geforce Bundles are not available here, but the Radeon ones are. So it depends on where he is.
