I can get a 64mb 9000 for AUD$165 or a 128mb 8500LE for AUD$265.

What do yous think? Will I notice a big difference in FPS on my XP1800 machine with 256mb PC2100 Ram?

The game I play most is Operation Flashpoint.

I dont wanna spend the extra AUD$100 if I dont really have to.
I currently have a 64mb GF4MX440

Is the Radeon 9000 the 9000 Pro version? are both the Radeons built by ATI or some other OEM brand? The 9000 Pro would be maybe 10-30% faster than your current GF4MX440, depending on application, and would provide full DX8.1 compatibility, but the Radeon 8500LE would be even faster than that. Video performance is another matter though, I'm not sure which one provides better video performance but the newer 9000 Pro does provide Fullstream capability, but its application is extremely limited currently. Are you able to find a 64MB 8500LE? Perhaps that would be a better compromise between price and performance.

I have a Radeon 9000 (non-pro) running 300/250. I have been playing games at 1280 x 1024 with 2XFSAA and 16-tap anisotropic filtering. Depending on the game, I have been averaging 60-80 fps. I have seen it dip into the upper 40's briefly and also spike into the 100's. Very playable at this resolution, I am happy with it.

rogue1979, thanks for that info. Those sort of specs are actually very good! I'm not after the biggest baddest card on the block, just something to run my games (Operation Flashpoint mainly) at decent frames and quality. I have an Athlon 1800XP system so I should be able to acheive frames like yours. What games do you play mostly? Do you play OFP?

Finally, what brand is your Radeon card and what is the default clock speed and memory rating (ns)?

It is manufactured by Saphire and seems to be of good quality. It is available at newegg for $69 shipped. I had to put a fan on the bare heatsink, I'm gonna wait for a good deal and get the 9000 Pro next. The memory on the 9000 is 4ns and kind of wimpy, the 9000 Pro comes with 3.3ns and sould hit 300-315MHz.
I don't play OFP, but some of the games I play include:

Janes WW2
Mech4 Vengeance & Black Knight
Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed
Unreal Gold
Mig29
MotoRacer2
Red Baron 3D
Mech Commander 2
and more
