Radeon DVD under win 2K??

I currenty use a Voodoo5 5500 with WinDVD and it works OK under win 2K. Anyone know how the Radeon DVD setup works under Win2K and if there is better quality to be had in switching to the Radeon vs. the pure software decoding I have now. I've realized that watching movies on DVD is a whole different thing than the VHS crap pan-n-scan, shrink the screen and rotten sound experience of yesteryear and actually don't mind sitting through some movies now.

Currently, in almost every DVD I've watched, there are always sections that skip and jump and stutter and I'm not sure what causes this. Even when I re-boot it will do so in exactly the same places. I can't decide if it's my DVD Player or what...

Win2K/Win98 (Win98 likes to freeze my system sometimes, don't use it much..for anything anymore).

I can't say that I think its a good idea to change your video card purely for the DVD experience. I'm currently using w2k and Radeon to power my DVD. My DVD is fluid and hasn't stuttered on me yet. The hardware accelleration really makes a difference on CPU utilization, with one stipultion, you better have DMA enabled. Check to make sure that DMA is enabled on your DVD drive. It really makes a significant difference, no matter what kind of accellerator you are using. I dont know about image quality, since windvd didnt work on my system at all after I formatted my w2k partition, but I can say that its at least as good, and probably better since only ATIs software can take advantage of its unique decoding at this time (Im pretty sure), which provides a very sharp image. You just need to make sure that your'e drivers support the DVD player well.
