Dear Anandtech Community,
I will be running the Boston Marathon this Monday to raise money for cancer research. This is my letter which I have sent out to a number of people. Please read it and make a donation or forward it on to someone else if you would like. A full 100% of all donations go towards cancer research, not a cent is taken out my myself or the Dana-Farber Marathon Team. Please PM me with any questions or if you would like a full copy of my donation letter. We could really use the ATOT effect here everyone!
Thanks so much...
Dear Family, Friends & Acquaintances,
This is my second annual letter of what I hope becomes a yearly tradition, until the time we finally reach our goal that is. For those of you who did not receive a letter last year, welcome to the team! As for those who did, well, it?s that time of year again! This year?s Boston Marathon will be the second marathon I have ever run, with last year?s Boston being my first. I run to raise money for cancer research as part of the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge Team, but more specifically, I run for those who cannot run themselves. After all, let?s be honest, I certainly don?t run it for myself! Running 26.2 miles is not fun? at all.
The spread of cancer is no longer confined solely to the ever growing number of ill-fated victims who are diagnosed everyday. Rather, we have all felt the devastation cancer brings, and if we wish to have any chance at truly ending the sorrow and death it causes, we need to come together as one to battle this disease head on.
The Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research is the beneficiary of one-hundred percent of the funds raised by the Dana Farber Marathon Challenge. Your donations will go directly to cancer research in hopes of finding new improved treatments or possibly even a cure. Not a cent will be taken out by either The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute or myself. You are not supporting me as a runner or the organization I am a part of; you are supporting the fight against cancer, a fight we are all in.
To make an online donation, you can go directly to the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge website at www.dfmarathon.kintera.org. From there you will go to the left panel and click on ?Support a Runner? under the category ?Visitors?. Then you enter my name, Greg Politi, into the requested spaces and click ?Search?. My name will show up underneath the search button and then you simply have to click on it. Once there, you are given the final instruction on how to make a donation.
My goal is to raise a total of $7,000.00 and it will require the generosity of each and every one of you to help me reach it. I was able to raise over $4,800 last year, which was fantastic, but I know we can do better! Every dollar counts!
I also ask for your support on the day of the Marathon. Last year?s marathon really took a toll on me, as I had difficulty even walking for a number of days following its? completion. I finished in a time of 4:02 and am shooting for 3:50 this year, so I will need the encouragement and strength of everyone on that exciting day, April 16, 2007.
Thank you for your support and donations,
Gregory Politi
