RAM Cooling

Hey,

I'm looking to have a very cool, efficient machine, and I was wondering if those 'RAM Coolers' actually work?

Here's what I have in my NewEgg cart right now. Would they be worth the buy?

I've got 3 sticks in the slots right now. Would these do any good?

Well, ram coolers by themselves do not work, and with a fan they'll probably lower a few degrees. But in reality, all you're doing is adding more noise and dust to your case, and your ram doesn't need to be cooled in the first place.

So basically, buying the cooler would be a waste of money?

no, heatspreaders are mostly for looks.

It depends on the RAM. I know of one type, Mushkin Redline, that requires active cooling, and that only if you decide to heavely overclock it and still maintain 2225 1T performance. Having said this, if you just want to active cool your RAM, go ahead. It isn't going to hurt anything, and it is your money and your rig.
