I can either go with

1 GB PC3200 OCZ Perf. Ser. RAM and A64 3200+

or

1.5 GB PC3200 OCZ Perf. Ser. RAM an A64 3000+

Which combo would be better for gaming (Flight Sim 2004, Call of Duty, BF*, Far Cry, etc.)? This will be coupled with a Gigabyte K8NPRO mobo and a Sapphire 9800PRO 128 MB.

I've never used more than 800MB of RAM, even with Desert Combat, so I'd say anything above a gig is wasted and you're better off with the faster CPU.

Agreedified. Go with the faster CPU, later on down the line if you want more RAM you can just pick some up.

I'd say go with 1gb and higher processor...

I personally think that you'd feel more boost with a faster processor than more ram.

Definately the faster processor and 1 gig of ram. Even running UT2004, my system uses 980 MB ram. It is easier and cheaper to get more ram down the line than to upgrade the processor.

How long till your next upgrade? Also, what kind of game do you play? (for instance, WOW will benifit from 1.5GB of RAM and it comes out later this year)

Yes, that's true...

I mostly play FS's and FPS's. I could probably get another stick of RAM in like 6 months if I had to.

Ok, I think I'm gonna go with the 1 GB, 3200+. Thx for the input guys.

If the 1.5GB is in three sticks avoid it like the plague. Once you put a third stick on there, the memory will drop down to either PC1600 or PC2100.

aren't the 3000+ and 3200+ the same speed, just different cache amounts? in that case i think the extra ram would be the better choice.
