My system specs are:
Q6600 g0 stepping @ stock
Thermalright Ultra 120 heatsink
seagate 320gb 7200.10 sata drive
2x1 gig mushkin 5-5-5-12 DDR2 800 ram
x1900xtx 512mb @ stock
550w antec NeoHE power supply
Windows vista 32-bit ultimate version

I have run memtest and windows memory test, they both come up with no errors. My system will randomly crash into blue screen, with no apparent cause. The first line of the bluescreen says something about unrecoverable hardware error, but I have not been able to get a good view because it instantly restarts.

My core temps are
44,44,35,38 @ load
30,30,23,27 @ idle

thanks in advance

Your system event log will show the Stop errors. Post those here.

It will be an exception code (ie 0x00000000 ) and four parameters. Post all that you find.

The only thing I could find was
The previous system shutdown at 12:24:05 PM on 10/16/2007 was unexpected.

Is there some other place I should look?

not sure if its the same for vista but

go to system properties (winkey + pause/break key) > advanced tab > startup and recovery settings > uncheck automatically restart for system failure

next time it happens write down the STOP error line and anything else that may be useful

Do what nova said and tell it not to auto-reboot.

There are two things that would cause an "unexpected" shutdown that doesn't have a stop code:
1. It was an actual reboot (think reset button hit) so the crashdump and events couldn't be written while things were coming down. ..note: I've never seen this be software/OS related.
2. It is a bugcheck in storage driver or another driver needed to complete the I/O for logging the event and writing the dump. Turning off automatic reboot after a crash will tell you if this is the case.

I don't believe that is a Microsoft generated stop code. Devices can declare a crash and submit a stop code to the OS. You appear to be seeing a 3rd party stop code.

Doing a quick 'net search (internal searches won't help a lot) points to a couple causes. Sigmatel audio drivers are one.

Use safemode and various levels of an MSConfig clean boot to remove drivers and services until it stops crashing.

Already did a bunch of what the google searched sites told me to do, still doesnt work. I guess I just have to disable sound driver and live without sound until a fix comes out.

Ok, did inbox drivers automatically install in their place? Instead of uninstalling do a disable.

Disable whatever drivers that soundcard is currently using and see if it clears up the issue.

If it does not clear up the issue, then put the latest greatest drivers on and start exploring elsewhere.

If it does clear up the issue you can start playing with various driver versions to see what you can find.

-_- just crashed again, I forgot to look at the blue screen before I restarted. I'm pretty sure its either a 0x000124 or a 0x000000A though
