this problem is annoying
when i boot up from a cold boot windows (any version) will give me random errors until it crashes (program errors, kernel errors, protection faults, blue screens of death)
then when I warm boot they go away and everything is fine for the rest of the day unless i turn off the computer and leave it alone for a period of time
this has been happening for the past two weeks, i thought it was WinME but i just reformatted and loaded Win98SE yesterday and when i turned on the computer this morning it did the same thing
it's almost as if a component needs to warmup to something before everything runs stable
i'm kind of leaning towards the power supply being the problem since it's about 10 years old but i'm not sure (i think it's 200W if i remember right)
the cpu also ran for about a month with the heat/fan not installed right (stupid clip broke) not sure if it damaged the cpu any
any thoughts?

old 486DX Baby AT system upgraded to
AMD K6-3 450Mhz (not K6-3+)

256 megs of PC100 ram (one 128 meg PNY stick and one 128 meg generic)
20 gig Maxtor HD
