let me start from the begining. i recently built my first comp (jan), and at first it was working fine...then i tried using the overclocking software that came with my motherboard to overclock the cpu and ram (noob). i got it as far as 2.59ghz (amd 3500, socket 939) but i went for 2.6ghz and as soon as i hit apply, the system totaly shut down. i tried turning it on again and i was told that the
"windows/system32/config.l_intl.nls"
file was either missing or corrupted. i took the comp to get fixed, (because i had neither the time or resources to do it myself). i (was told that) the hard drive was formated (all files were gone so i guess thats true) and a new copy of windows xp home was installed. this was where my curiosity was aroused. a brand new copy of xp home where i live is 75euro (studend discount) and i was only charged 95euro... asuspiciously cheap service charge...but nothing i could do now as the job was done. i took the comp home and it was working fine...for a while.
i started having problems with windows start up, the windows xp logo would appear and the little progress bar would work away, but when they went away i would just get a constant black screen. at first i thought that it would go after a while but it didnt...40 mins later still there. so i turned off the comp and tried again, no problem at all. at the time i figured it was just a once off...but it has been happening ever since.
this is not all though, it got worse. after a few weeks when i would start up for the second time it would not work itself out, and the windows progress bar would freeze and nothing would happen. when i turned it on for the third time, i was given 5 options:
1. start windows in safe mode
2. start windows in safe mode (something else here)
3. start windows in safe mode with command prompt
4. start windows with last good configuration
5. start windows normaly
and now im getting the same windows/system32/config.l_intl.nls msg again now
any help would be much appreciated
