Randomly freezing monitor

I just got a ATI 9600 SE and after i installed the latest version of Catayst Control Center it started to happen. At seemingly random times it will freeze the entire screen and i stay like that then i have to manually restart.

So you've tried uninstalling the C.CC and the problem goes away?

it didn't work :x
i got an error stating
ATI Radeon 9600SE is unstable to do to the reason of drivers
i have tried reinstalling them to and that doesn't seem to help at all

what operating system you using with this card?

i am using windows xp home.

the error also comes up with my old geforce 5200 fx
my mobo is a Biostar MN7CD nForce 2
maybe this plays a role??

actually the only one this doesn't ahppen with is the crappy DH-Savage4

Well, that to me suggests drivers, so I'd update all drivers having anything to do with the motherboard (BIOS), AGP (all motherboard AGP drivers), and video cards (download the latest from the chip manufacturer - nvidia, S3, ATI, etc.)

What didn't work? You couldn't uninstall the control center, or what? Please be more specific about what you've done and what did or did not work - how did it not work? What did you do? What happened then? Details, please.
