It wasn't wrong to get it all together now, but that should only be a guideline. If you keep an eye on the tech market, read anandtech and the forums here, and post a thread about it in early september you'll be in a much better place to make a well-informed judgement and end up with a solid, value-for-money system.

I notice you've allocated $150 for "labor to build computer"? I would just say that you should seriously consider building it yourself. Not only is it a really interesting learning experience, but then you'll be in a better place to troubleshoot whatever goes wrong with it if you're familiar with it. A forums user called mechBgon has a great guide on building a PC at www.mechbgon.com and you can certainly google for other guides as well.

I rather not take the chance on something this expensive. I don't have the time or the energy to take back parts because of my own goofs.


The actual cost for labor is $85, but it totals to about $150 for installing O.S.

It's not that I'm not capable of building a computer, it's just a matter of time and energy.


I rather just have it built by someone else, or have someone build it with me. Plus my mom really doesn't want to ship parts back unless something is fried or is a lemon.


This isn't exactly a hobby of mine. I just want to play BF2.


If I were to buy a retail computer online, what kind of hardware would I be looking at for $1,200 including moniter?

Thousands of people play BF2. I can probably think of a six-server set a friend of mine admins that is usually full, 64 players on each server.
