Post 1-10 on Performance and 1-10 on just how much you like it.

okay so i had a post about this earlier and my hardware choices were totaly backfired by the posters on here, which is a good thing i think, better not to buy the stuff then find out later its not good. So anyways i have reevaluated some hardware and made decisions on which hardware i will buy in the near future. And again any opinions on different parts will be accepted, just post the part and why if you would like. Okay so heres the parts
AND YES I LIKE HOW THE ASUS VENTO LOOKS SO DONT POST ANYTHING ABOUT IT LOL.
Case: ASUS Vento 3600
CD/DVD Drive: BenQ DVD Burner with Lightscribe
CPU Fan: Scythe Ninja
PSU: Seasonic 500W
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon X1900XTX
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar SE16
MotherBoard: Waiting for the release of the RD580 based chipset motherboards
CPU: AMD Athlon X2 3800+
RAM: OCZ 2GB DDR SDRAM Dual Channel

so again just post what you think of it and give me any opinions you have.
thanks

Things i think you should change:

CPU: X2 3800+
Graphics: X1900XT
RAM: Use cheap stuff

and with the money saved on that, buy yourself some steak and beer The above will perform about the same as the rig you have posted if you overclock slightly, and cost lots less.

CPU: 3800X2 if you're going to overclock, or the opteron 165 if you're confident with overclocking.
PSU: Seasonic 500W, better PSU than the thermaltake one by a long shot.
RAM: Go for the most expensive, fastest RAM you can get if you're overclocking, you already have a top of the line GPU and since the CPU will be overclocked too you might as well. Alternativly buy the much more economical (bang per buck) value stuff and buy beer.

Heatsink + fan, scythe ninja isn't a bad one at all, i use it myself, but you might want to think about a SI 120 and a nexus orange fan, with the 1900XTX in there you won't get a quiet computer anyway.

Yea, seasonics make great PSU's but seasonic + DFI dont play well together, they apparently have a lot of problems. So either change the mobo, or stick with the PSU you have. Personally i chose an epox board so i could get seasonic and have no problems.

148 Opti is cheaper and I have seen many oc to around 3Ghz.
Ram is not that big of a deal since you can use a divider, and NOT hinder performance.. but I think I would go atleast pc4000.
My BenQ drive sucks.
The PSU is fine, I use one at work.

I would not spend so much on that CPU for sure, and go with some better mem..watch the BenQ. Besides that... looks great.

I have to ask. Why do we get 100 of these topics every week and the person posting ALWAYS (supposedly) is buying the top of the line stuff without regard for prices?

Good point, in which case i'd go for a Neo HE for that board, don't think there are any known compatability issues.

I rate your power supply a big fat 0, thermaltake PSU's are far from good, basicly a step up from utter crap, if you want an inexpensive quality PSU, go with Fortron. And I would definatly prefer an NF4 chipset over an ATI "chipset". ATI's southbridges have been known to be pretty buggy in the past, and they were generaly getting ULI to make them for them..however thats a bit tricky now since Nvidia bought ULI..

when i get enough money for the parts they will be down in price and not top of the line anymore, so if i stick with parts now ill end up paying less later

Hmmm, as i was the one who recomended the seasonic i'd like to change my mind now. Seasonics have been known to conflict with DFI boards, both great parts, but they don't like playing with each other. Think about a NeoHE 450W or fortron 450W or enermax liberty 400W (if they make it).

If you're going to wait then all the advice above is a bit pointless, things can change a hell of a lot in a short amount of time.

im just changing the motherboard, im waiting for the new RD580 chipsets from ATI. So yea i guess there could be some issues considering the mobos arnt out yet, but just post about the quality of the parts and how those parts will work together and then we'll find out about the motherboard
