I'm happy because it's not the Yankees! Phils will take whoever comes out of the AL anyway.

The Yankees are fine with that and don't mind that the Rays will have home field advantage. The Bombers have more fans in Tampa than the Rays do.

No, the Yankees aren't "fine with that". The bad news for NY: Soriano has only given up 9 HRs in 191 innings which is 1/2 the rate of CC, Lee, Price and 1/3 better than King Felix. For a team that has relied on the long ball all year, they now have to face the best against it - twice.on.the.road. NY better learn how to play small ball and fast, the odds are not in their favor.

Yeah, the Yanks are quaking in their cleats at the prospect of facing the Rays, their proven post season champs and the franchises long record of World Series success. Why, just the sight of all those banners hanging in the Tampa Bay shithole ought to terrify a team with as few championships as the Yankees. Boy, the last time the Rays won the World Series was truly awesome, what a juggernaut! Maybe they can play highlights to even further discourage the Yankees. I'll even download the torrent and do it for them. What year was that again? Trying to find the footage and I'm drawing a blank.

umm...Soriano is going to pitch, what, no more than 1 inning per game? his stats aren't he important ones, the starters are

I do think the Yanks are in some trouble - they need Pettite to pitch well, and Hughes - never of whom has finished very strongly at all

Phillies have Holliday and Oswalt - something they did not have last year - I think the Giants are going to be a tough out though, with their pitching as well

should be a good post-season

I hate the Yankees, but they're going to end up with the better draw now. Congrats Rays, you now get to see Cliff Lee twice in a week.

Actually I meant LIRIANO (of the Twins) has the lowest HR rate in baseball, my bad. Although he hasn't pitched great in the past 28 days (5.81ERA vs CC's 4.11), the Yanks better hope Liriano doesn't have his A game or they will need to try to win by small ball. While not a big statistical sample: in 13 innings vs NY he has a 3.46 ERA and 0 HR's given up, 17 hits, 14K's, and 2 BB's. @Target Field he has a 1.15 WHIP/3.11 ERA vs CC's 1.25WHIP/3.34 ERA on the road + twice as many HR's served. I would be worried if I was NY, Minny is a dangerous team and don't be surprised if Gardenhire makes a "surprise" announcement that Morneau will be back for this series (even though he said otherwise 2 days ago).

Can I shit in this thread like you did the Phillies NL East thread? The Rays aren't doing shit. I hope you enjoy watching them suck.

Wow! All those championship banners the Spankees have sure didn't help them win the season series against the Rays.

Yea, that went well last year...

Yeah, and..? Last year we didn't have Halladay, Oswalt and an effective Hamels as our 1-2-3. Last year the NL didn't have home field advantage. Last year we didn't have Polanco, highest average on the team, in the 2 hole. Last year Lidge was horrible, this year he's not his old self but still worlds better than before.

See a pattern here? They were good enough to get to the WS last year and now they're better, most wins in the MLB in fact. GG
