Consider this A4Tech mouse. It is by far the best mouse I have ever used. It also has a incredibly thin and flexible wire making it feel wireless. It also has 'On-The-Fly Sensitivity' adjustments as well as a 3x Fire button (basically it hits the fire button 3x, but faster then humanly possible).

At $23, you'd be hard pressed to find a better mouse. Honestly, knowing how good this mouse is, I'd pay twice the price for one. I am not saying that the Razer isn't nice, but I certainly wanted to let people know about this mouse that I am extremely impressed with (my second post about it within the week).

HERE is a link directly to the A4Tech website in case you are interested.

(Edited to fix first link)

Hmm, a one year warranty seems kind of paltry. Especially compared to mice made by Razer (2 years), Logitech (3 years), and Microsoft (3 or 5 years, depending on the model). Now, on the one hand, you could say that for a $23 mouse, that's quite an acceptable tradeoff. But I tend to use my mice for many years, and they do take a beating, so it's nice to have a lengthy warranty to back the product up. I've never owned a MS mouse personally, but I have read a good number of posts here where people have asked for and gotten a replacement from them. I couldn't help but notice that A4Tech is apparently a Chinese company. *cough* *cough*

man, a thread crapper

lets see what this mouse has that no other mouse does...

DPI aside, the laser sensor is supposedly fixed and supposedly can match the performance of the optical mice that previously outperformed them (the A4Tech mouse included), and that's before we consider the fact that the sensor is capable of a hardware 4000dpi with 125dpi increments (no software interpolation for any of it)

as for the other major selling points...

the 32KB of on-board memory allows you to store 5 profiles of your specific mouse settings, virtually eliminating the need for drivers except for to set up those profiles. You can then take that mouse and use it on any computer with those 5 profiles intact, remapped buttons and all, no need for the drivers except for on the fly sensitivity, which I think you might be confusing with changing the dpi...with this mouse you can either adjust the the mouse's dpi (hardware) or the driver specific cursor speed (software) - previously you could adjust this senstivity from 1 to 10 in increments of 0.5, giving you far more levels of sensitivity than changing your DPI, of course now that there are 32 hardware dpi levels, on-the-fly senstivity adjustment might not be as necessary anymore

FINALLY Razer made a mouse with a pair of buttons underneath the scroll wheel, bringing up the total to 9 fully programmable buttons. Of course when we consider the ambidextrous design and the disaster that can be for accessing the two side buttons opposite of your thumb, it is probably going to end up realistically being only a 7 button mouse when you consider any intense gaming action.

And when we consider this mouse appears to be $20 cheaper than Logitech's G9...

deadken, no offense, but your mouse really isn't in league with this one. That's not to say it is bad mouse, you are right about one thing though, for $23 you do get a whole lot of mouse for your money. This new mouse, however, is for people who don't mind spending $80 on the most important piece of equipment that connects their input to the computer itself. If we have people willing to spend thousands on building top of the line gaming rigs, it really isn't that overkill to consider spending a relative measly $80 so that those people can better interact with their money pits

I will never again buy a Razer mouse

They can't build cables correctly.

At least they replace the mice for free

I like the G5 I bought

PS: One new habu for sale.

Fair enough. I honestly hope I didn't offend anyone with my suggestion. I will say that, although I have never owned one, I was largely unimpressed with the earlier Razer Mice. Perhaps I would have thought differently if I owned one, but for me it just wasn't worth the investment to try one (perhaps if one was available at a local retailer, rather then me having to order one and then ship it back if I didn't like it).

I totally agree that this mouse isn't in the same league as the newest razer mouse. I assume that we all know that I didn't implie that it was. I just wanted to let everyone know that there was a low cost alternative that performed very well (IMHO). Perhaps a longer warranty is indeed indicitive of better quality. I would have to say that I have had this mouse for about 18mos. and it is seems to be just fine. I expect to get another 18mos. without so much as a scratch on its lead paint (j/k, figured I would play up the made in China reference).

For another comment on the longevity of this mouse, perhaps I should mention that I am a GAMER. This mouse has put up with HOURS and HOURS of BF2 use/abuse (including being SLAMMED down after getting killed at inopertune times). Just as a point of reference, HERE are my BF2 Stats. With about 1,275 Hours of BF2 playing time I hope you guys realize that this mouse gets thoroughly used/abused.

Then you should most certainly start a thread on it (or add your valuable input to an already existing, yet more relevant thread) instead of, for lack of a better term, trying (even if it was inadvertent) to 'hijack' the thread or divert the topic of discussion.

This razer mouse looks to have 2 side thumb button.

How many side buttons does those other razer mouse usually have?

2...

this is an ambidextrous design, so it has the two primary mouse buttons, the scrollwheel/middle mouse button, two buttons underneath the scrollwheel (traditionally such buttons are setup for use as dpi up/down buttons, but they can be reprogrammed to do anything just like the other buttons), then there are two buttons on both sides of the mouse, so it does have 4 side thumb buttons, although you'll probably be hard pressed to access the two buttons opposite of whichever thumb you end up using (such as if you are one of the very rare lefty mouse user, you could use this mouse the same way as all the righty users), so thats a total of 9 buttons, although I wouldn't count on actively using more than 7...
