A couple coworkers have Treos (one a 650, the other a 700). Aside from being a little bulky, they seem pretty nice. Both are the PalmOS version. The guy with the 700 has a 2GB memory card and can watch divx movies while on a plane.
Another coworker has a Nokia 9300. At first glance, it's a step back to the late 90s phones. Bulky. But fold it open sideways and you have a "big" widescreen LCD and a qwerty keyboard. He has an SSH client for his phone and can log in to servers at work or IRC if necessary. He also has the broadband over bluetooth thing going so if he's on the road, he can use his laptop can use his phone's broadband connection. Pretty useful if you're at a conference or a cafe where wifi access isn't free.
I don't have a cell yet but I'm tempted. Not sure I want to deal with the bulk of a Treo or 9300 though even though the features are attractive.
yeah...took me forever to decide on the Q, regardless of what I psoted on here...
How is that Q anyway? I'm not sure if I want to get a silicone or leather case for my Pocket PC Phone. Silicone cases keep the phone slimmer but makes it look like a toy. On the other hand, leather cases add more bulk but look more professional.
Oh yeah, direct push r0x0rz my b0x0rz.
it's a sweet little thing, but far from perfect. It has crashed a few times, and definitely has its limitations. That siad, foir what we use it for (checkign imap accounts) and general internet lookups, it works fine....speacking from the point of view of a miser...er..rather, a poor fool.
If I needed an effective busienss tool and our business was not only benefitting from it ,like it is now, but DEPENDING on it, I wouldn't get it, period.
It's nice, but thigns like a lack of pushmail support (we were thinkign of gettign outsourced exchange accoutns), the puny 107mhz ARM CPU< and WIndows mobile 5.0's general shortcomings make it a very could knife, but not worthy of the badge of the Swiss army...
if you get my drift....
I currently use mail2web's pushmail service and it's 100% free.
but you have to:
1) use the text mesage trick, right?
2) have to sue a @mail2web address.
no?
I looked them up so that they could host some of our domain mailboxes and that was the only way it would work since verizon hadn't implemented Windows Mobile 5.0's service pack 1.
Timed IMAP mail checks are pretty acceptable though
