i HATE razr's...but then again i hate most of the phones people have...ive had sooooo many motos and sooooo many motos crap out on me :/ if you're a girl...razr is nice because it fits easily into tight pants...i suppose if you're a male with tight pants that works too...but anytime i see a guy with razr it screams 'gay' but people prolly see my blackberry as 'old' ...oh well, to each his own

RAZR's are in no way gay unless you get the magenta one. I think that the Black RAZR is one of the coolest looking phones ever.

I've had a RAZR for a month or so now. I have no complaints...the screen is big enough, the reception is good. I like how customizable it is...with only some downloaded software and a usb cable you can make it do what you want. The only drawback I see is the very small amount of space available to store things like music and such.

I've had 3 motorola phones with Nextel, all of which still work, and then 2 RAZRs from Cingular, one mine, one my wifes, both of which are still working perfectly. So no problems with motos here.

I found my blackberry very cumbersome for talking, and still too small to type with. It was the one Nextel was offering about this time last year, I can't remember the model number, but it had a full qwerty keyboard and an antenna that you could raise.

RaZr is about 3 generations behind in technology. VGA camera phone? LoL. Let's see. I went from V600 (same as a Razr w/ VGA) to a K700 (roughly the 1.3 MP period), to a K750i (2MP camera generation), and hopefully a K800 in the next month or so (3MP).

It's technology 2 years old.. likea fvcking Athlon XP Barton. If you think your RaZr makes you look cool, then please show off your Barton system too, because they are both worthless...

RAZRs are way overrated and way overhyped, but with the way they're selling I can hardly blame motorola for pushing them so hard.

I'd never but one, they look too fragile and dull. I don't think I could ever go back to a boring old non-smartphone.

That arguement is 100% inaccurate. The only factor that matters in a cell phone is how well it holds a call. A slow computer will not be anywhere near as productive for posting on these forums. Whereas an old cell phone works just fine.

Well just because you like sporting your Motorola Startac phone from the 90s doesn't mean you need to tell everyone not to get good phones, nor does it mean good phones don't matter.

You are speaking from the perspective of someone who uses their computer to check email everyday only. Sure they may think no one needs a dual core Opteron system with 2GB of ram, but it doesn't make us system enthusiasts idiots.

You could say that cars are for driving from A to B, so why would you need to do 0 to 60 in 5.3 seconds? Your arguments about cell phones can be used with cars and what would car enthusiasts say? Do you think they are stupid too?

I have to agree with DLeRium. Having a cell phone with a 100 other features isn't stupid. You're mentality is wrong. In this day in age, you can't be thinking "basic" is best. That'll get you no where. If everyone thought the way you did, and just assumed that their old technology is good enough since it works, then we'd be pretty far behind technologically.

My phone is actually fairly recent. Bought it new in 2005. I couldn't even begin to guess at what make/model it is.

And if someone uses a computer for email, then no they dont need that system, however computers were never intended to do just email, unlike the sole purpose of a phone. Personally I game with mine, so I can justify it as an entertainment cost.

But the bells and whistles on cell phones are pointless.

And as far as cars go, I 100% agree that they are only a method of transportation, however I would not call a car enthusiast stupid. I think that anyone that works on a car, or improves their car to bring to a track, or rebuilds cars can be truly talented. But thats called a hobby, or once again entertainment. But people that spend $30k on a brand new car, just to drive to work boggle my mind, regardless of how much money they make.

I mean yes it does seem intrusive that the cell phone is blending in with 10 other devices. I guess it's hard to accept at first, but it takes time torealize that it's more beneficial to have an all-in-one device.

Is my K750 my main camera? No. I do photography and I have my own camera, but I can't stuff it all into my pocket. When I went snowboarding, all I had to do was stick my cell into one pocket and I could pull it out anytime to snap a picture.

Sure my K750i is no iPod, but I don't need to carry my larger iPod and my cell when I can just stick to listening to my cell phone wtih MP3s. If I get tired, I switch to radio. How simple. Alarm clock? I don't even have one. My cell phone is my alarm clock.

Cell phones migh tnot replace ipods overnight, but they are sure handy. I still use both, but I can't say I'm not happy because there are walkman phones out there..

So you're saying buying a brand new Accord Hybrid is stupid? Basically buying a BMW 3 series or an Acura TL is just pure absurd because of such prices?

I mean I don't really understand. Computers were designed to do a lot, but computers were never designed so you and I could post on ATOT. Nor were they designed to play games or to watch DivX movies on. Nor were they designed with HTPCs and file servers in mind. They were designed as calculators. Calculators were never designed as gaming machines, but we see people play games on their TI-89s and load up dictionary files for SATs. Extra features are good, whether the product was designed for it or not.

You look at a cell phone with the mindset of the 1990s. It's evolving, whether you like it or not. 10 years ago I never dreamed of having an HTPC. I wanted to game and I wanted a gaming machine. Today I still want a gaming machine (I do have one), but this new concept of an HTPC comes about, and yea I probably didn't see such a market 3 years ago, but I wouldn't call them stupid. I just wasn't exposed.

Cell phones were designed with the idea of portable communication. Besides communication comes the feature of portability and electronic device. You can embed anything in an electronic device, and with everything shrinking, it makes more sense to squeeze more.

It might be stupid that I have a crazy phone or whatever, but when people are paying $70 for their RaZrs even though the phone is nearly 2 years old, and I'm paying roughly $100, $120 for brand new phones filled with features, I don't think I'm at that big of a loss. So yes, in a way I think excessive spending on such products is stupid, but if you spend right with deals, then you are in a win.

It makes sense since it's a progression of technology.

Why should or would you carry an individual phone, an MP3 player, a digital camera, etc when you can have it all wrapped up in one?

Uh, I cant find one extra feature that actually makes my life easier where it would be worth paying for. Maybe I'm missing something, but the bells and whistles dont help me out at all.

Voice dialing - I can speed dial just as fast.
Blue tooth - My speakerphone works just fine setting the phone in my lap.
Camera - I dont take pictures as it is, but we have a decent camera.
Text messenging - A complete waste of energy. If I want to chat, I'll call someone.
Songs/Ring tones/etc - My phone vibrates, because rings are annoying and unprofessional.
Internet/email - I cant think of a reason that I'd ever need that mobile. None.
