Thanks for the info! Can you just start with one car and then buy seperate body kits to change the cars? I'm new to this as you know. So.. The Zip Zaps are just clones to these cars?

What 4 cars did you buy btw?

Thanks again.

Does anyone have any other sites that sell these for around 10-20? I can't find the coupon for computer geeks so I'll have to look elsewhere.

I need to get a couple ones with different frequencys for my nephews.

I got the original of the Bit Char G and I got some from WalMart the other day. All in all they don't compare. I won't buy anymore of the cheapos... I will only do the original. Stearing is nicer, and over all handling is much better. Lot's more von with the CharG.

thinkin about getting some Tomi Char-G for some nephews of mine but i read in a review that the max that they run is 4 minutes until they need to be charged. fine for me but i doubt kids have the patience to keep recharging every 4 minutes. any evidence of this being false?

I ordered 4 Shen Qi Wei clones from here:

Mini RC cars from Hobbytron.com

Order the package deal for 4 or 6 cars and then apply the $5 off $35 coupon (code is shown on the web page). 2nd day UPS for me was $12.55.

I ordered on Thursday 2nd day UPS and received them today (Monday). Good customer service, I emailed a question to the email address on the web page and received an answer in 5 minutes.

For those of you looking for Tomy Bit Char G's...
I ordered my Fairlady Z(350ZX) from this place.
This is the newest Bit Char G car released by Tomy.
You probably won' t find Tomy's for less in the USA. If you do, let us know.
Shipping is somewhat resonable.

Good luck,
R

Went to Radio Shack today (100 S. Clark in Chicago) and the salesman said that the ZipZap cars are sold out nationwide.

Are these things really that popular? How fast do they go?

Yeah.. What is the deal with the Zip Zap cars? Is it because the Shack endorsed them? Aren't these inferior clones to the Bit Charg G's?

I didn't realize that they were sold out nation wide. I bought 3 zip zaps back in October before the craze. These things aren't inferior to bit char-g nor are they cheap clones. These are as good as bit char-g and the parts are interchangeable (use a bit char-g motor in zip zap). Microsizers (sold at towerhobbies) are the american verison of bit char-g. I would stick to microsizer, bit char-g, and zip zap. I've heard bad things about those cheap $10 clones.

For anyone looking for a "Hot Deal" way to build a track for these things ( I have 5 different cars on 5 different frequencies - can't wait til I ...errr for my kids to open em). I went to the hardware store and the cheapest stuff I could find was:

8' x 4' , 1/8" thick wood paneling - $6.89

10' of 1/2" thick high density self adhesive weather stripping - $2.49/roll - I bought 4 to use as crash barriers outlining the track.

The cheap wood paneling is kind of flimsy but it looks like it will get the job done, I cut it into (1) 5x4 and (1) 4x3 to make 2 tracks.

I bought two Microsizers at ToysRUs last night. They didn't seem to have too many left. I got the last one with a 29MHz (or was it 27?) frequency and one with 49MHz.

$40...not hot.

I get about 6 spam messages a day about these suckers. Not from the geeks of course, just from spammers.

I ordered some from hobbytron also.
I had a bunch of coupons and they don't mind stacking. I used two $5 coupons and two $2 coupons.

I got my daughter one of the microsizers for $30 at Toys R Us a couple of weeks ago. It's nice because you can take it apart and clean the axel if it gets hair or debris caught in it. Some of the cheaper ones don't come apart like that. Since we have a hardwood floor that is constantly littered with debris and dog hair, it made sense to get the one I could clean.

Walmart also has something like these occasionally, at least the one I work at does. Everyone asks for them, and whole shipments of them are gone in a day; think they're $13-$14.

Differences in the cars are;

Some are total crap clones. Don't come apart (actually don't go back together).

There are like 4 or 5 sizes of motors.

Really cheap swap meet cars are often missing parts like the battery, which is sold extra.

Some don't steer, or only turn when backing up (so call J steering pattern).

Charging isn't an issue, they recharge in like 20 seconds, and fact is kids LIKE to mess on them, charge, change tires, etc.

OTOH the number one thing kids like to do with cars is to crash them, so maybe a few cheapos isn't a bad idea.

Expect to see a LOT more of this tiny RC stuff. So far I have seen tanks, and boats, and motorcycles.

My local Walgreen has the Charg-n-go's for $9.99. Has anyone tried these? Are they worth $10?

I work at a small University and we talked about putting a plastic mouse over the top of one of these and running it around the cafeteria. :Q

Bought a couple yesterday at Fry's Electronics in Phoenix, AZ. They were 14.99 each, dunno which brand they are though since I'm at work right now. These things are battery hogs though, 3 AAs in the remote and 3 AAAs in the charger.
