With the GFX940 patches in full swing since first week of March, it is looking like MI300 is not far in the distant future!
Usually AMD takes around 3Qs to get the support in LLVM and amdgpu. Lately, since RDNA2 the window they push to add support for new devices is much reduced to prevent leaks.
But looking at the flurry of code in LLVM, it is a lot of commits. Maybe because US Govt is starting to prepare the SW environment for El Capitan (Maybe to avoid slow bring up situation like Frontier for example)

See here for the GFX940 specific commits
Or Phoronix

There is a lot more if you know whom to follow in LLVM review chains (before getting merged to github), but I am not going to link AMD employees.

I am starting to think MI300 will launch around the same time like Hopper probably only a couple of months later!
Although I believe Hopper had problems not having a host CPU capable of doing PCIe 5 in the very near future therefore it might have gotten pushed back a bit until SPR and Genoa arrives later in 2022.
If PVC slips again I believe MI300 could launch before it

This is nuts, MI100/200/300 cadence is impressive.

Is this why AMD dumped a load into channel before fully cooked?! To make market share look better. Peddie tracks shipped from company, not shipped to end user.
They track shipped by a few OEMs in PCs sold by the same OEMs, the retail dGPU market is not accounted at all, that is, most of the DT dGPU market is not accounted.

Used newegg, not sure if mistake.
Site kept erroring out when I had MSRP card in cart, then it went OOS.

Seems like I was able to order the PowerColor Hellhound Radeon RX 9070 for $630.
Ugh, same. Then I tried looking at other models and it was all $750+ for like Hellhounds and Pures. I'd pay $50-$60 for a mid tier model, but I'm not paying $150 more for one. Guess I'm stuck waiting.

Could't catch up here but reporting from europe. Availability just as shitty as NV. Everything sold out in minutes.

Prices is a joke. Incl vat it is $850, and that with a very low vat of 8% not the usual 20%. So about $200 more costly than it should be. How are US prices?

In the end I will wait for more supply and lower prices. But this msrp bullshit needs to stop. If nv suddenly has supply, 9070 xt will again fail to sell well.

No sense in such sidegrade for 6800xt and upwards owners, especially if you consider that you can MPT n21
I was going to upgrade to a 9070 XT if I could get one at MSRP. The 9070 XT is 45% faster than my RTX 3080 in raster and 30% faster in ray tracing. It has more VRAM, a fresh 3 year warranty, and new computer hardware is fun. The net cost to upgrade after ebaying my old card would be $200-250.
