With the GFX940 patches in full swing since first week of March, it is looking like MI300 is not far in the distant future!
Usually AMD takes around 3Qs to get the support in LLVM and amdgpu. Lately, since RDNA2 the window they push to add support for new devices is much reduced to prevent leaks.
But looking at the flurry of code in LLVM, it is a lot of commits. Maybe because US Govt is starting to prepare the SW environment for El Capitan (Maybe to avoid slow bring up situation like Frontier for example)

See here for the GFX940 specific commits
Or Phoronix

There is a lot more if you know whom to follow in LLVM review chains (before getting merged to github), but I am not going to link AMD employees.

I am starting to think MI300 will launch around the same time like Hopper probably only a couple of months later!
Although I believe Hopper had problems not having a host CPU capable of doing PCIe 5 in the very near future therefore it might have gotten pushed back a bit until SPR and Genoa arrives later in 2022.
If PVC slips again I believe MI300 could launch before it

This is nuts, MI100/200/300 cadence is impressive.

Amazon US has zero 16GB 9060XTs unless you want to pay $600+. Newegg out of 16GBs. Best Buy US doesnt even have listings for 9060XTs.

I think this launch was even more fake than the 9070XT launch....

There are MSRP 16GB parts still available at Scan and at OCUK. Also OCUK didn't crash like it did at the 9070XT launch.

What's this then

You're being dramatic. Definitely stock available on launch day at MSRP. I was able to add to cart at BestBuy and Newegg, which I wasn't able to for the 9070 XT.
Maybe complain when it doesn't last.
Not being dramatic. That literally does not come up when I search site for 9060XT or 9060 XT. I dont know what the hell you did, but I did a simple search, and I get "No results for 9060XT".

I am looking at 16GB NewEgg listings right now? $390 for a trifan Gigabyte model. Not "MSRP" but having the "premium" ones hanging under $400 was aspirational for me before this.

I hit add to cart on that XFX $350 Best Buy card because I have BB GC's I'd like to turn into cash and its making me jump through a few hoops - "in line" for a couple minutes, then it logged me out and now I have to re-verify my phone number and the text is taking forever on sign in. Sigh.

And, when I swapped from my work account (had it in cart, but wrong account) to personal account I never got it added back to my cart. Now sold out. Frustrating.

EDIT:

Now waiting "in line" for the 16GB $390 Gigabyte model. I missed every Switch 2 opportunity and if I whiff on this I am definitely not spending money online today. Sheesh.

Hard to say who have advantage, because it's GDDR6 vs GDDR7.

Nvidia didn't get much boost from the GDDR7 comparing the newer Blackwell cards against similarly configured 4000 series cards using GDDR6X that had a lot less bandwidth. I don't think it's overly meaningful but it's hard to say that AMD cards wouldn't have performed better with faster memory.

It's not only the improved quality of FSR4, but it's the fact that it's now DL based and can be trained to improve at a faster rate than a human coded solution is likely to improve.

Be careful what you wish for. Nvidia drivers have had all kinds of problems lately and a suspected reason is that they're using a lot of machine generated code instead of something a human wrote.

There is a big difference between Deep Learning for image reconstruction, which it is well suited for, and what I was talking about, and DL for code generation, which I was not.

Do you not see where it says GPU on the left hand panel a check box next to the line 9060 XT?

Maybe Im absolutely retarded, but I dont see 9060 XT anywhere on this page, other than the search box and it telling me no results found for it. All 14 GPUs available are sown on the right, I dont see 9060 XT, CTRL +F doesnt find it either.

It was in the first picture you shared. I don't know what you are doing now, but there are a ton of them, mostly sold out now, "available".

Probably because you changed the spacing in your search query. Try searching 9060, then on the left it came up as an option for me to choose from. Looks like their search index is borked atm or not fully refreshed with the newly activated listings. Or their site is barely holding up because of Switch 2 related traffic - or they paused re-indexing for the launch so they didn't die last night. Who knows.

Order sent. Sapphire Pulse 16gb $489cdn/approx $358US. Decent price, but had a $40 Limited Time discount. It was this or an XFX Swift for the same price near MSRP. Both XFX and Sapphire had some around $550. Only saw 1 8gb, a Sapphire card. No other brands were available.

I think OCUK didn't anticipate that level of demand, they were basically using a ticketing system to even get access to the site to view the cards that day.

I think they probably anticipated the uptick this time around and bought extra server time for a day or 2.

I see it now in the first pic. Didnt see that at first. So Im partially retarded at a minimum, but their search is broken, lol.

Gibbo said in the forum they found out what caused the issues at the 9070 launch so they were able to put some money towards making sure that bottleneck was sorted in time for this launch and for future launches.

Yeah, MSRP 16GB models have been available for shipping all morning in Canada. That might change once that $40 discount goes away, but at least for right now it's very different from the 9070 XT launch. $380 triple fan models have tonnes of stock too.

The needle has barely moved.
Not really true.

From Techspot:

And in RT games:

And beating the 6700 XT in power consumption too. So yes, the price is similar but now a x60 card is beating two gen old x70 card with serious uplift in RT horsepower and 4 GB extra RAM while consuming less power. It's not excellent but it's respectable progress. This is now entry level for anyone serious about gaming. It's also much better than the 7600 XT was.

I wouldn't upgrade from a 6700 XT to a 9060 XT either unless I was desperate to play a multiplayer game (PvP or otherwise).

RT performance on this class of cards is anemic from either vendor.
