If money is no object, then get the RDRAM, it will be a bit faster. But from the specs I've seen, PC2700 RAM is within about 5% of the performance of RDRAM. Personally, I wouldn't get RDRAM even if money were no object because I don't like RAMBUS the company, but that's me.
If you have to ask, then stick with DDR, and if you do some research, then you'd be surprised at the price/performance ratios with certain setups. RDram is not necessarily more expensive, even if you are comparing the highest end setups.
I agree for the most part with CrazySaint, except in Games the diff is 10% for PC1066, but to be honest, I find it very difficult to see it wortbh spending the money for PC1066 at the moment.
The Asus P4T533(don't get it mixed up with the P4T533-C) is the only motherboard right now that will accept the 32 bit RAMBUS PC 3200 and 4200 RIMMs. You'll definitely have to order the motherboard and undoubtedly have to order the 32 bit RIMMS(finding them is a challenge in itself) and pay the hefty price for the RIMMS as well. I've read that the P4T533 ships with a 256MB stick of 32 bit RDRAM whether 3200 or 4200, your choice, your pocketbook. The P4T533 and the 32 bit PC4200 RIMMs are the only RAMBUS setup that I'd personally buy right now. DDR II is promising to give a significant performance boost. Will it be able to match 32 bit, or better yet, 64 bit RAMBUS some day? Most experts doubt it. But the price/performance difference will most likely make DDR II the better buy anyway. But remember now. RAMBUS is getting faster and faster which negates it's earlier latency issues. If RAMBUS can make inroads into the server market then all bets are off. The way I look at it is that I'll have to buy a new motherboard either way.
