Re-Build #2 - Video issues

The Antec case I decided to buy (one step down from the 200 Hundred series), for my system rebuild does not have a PC speaker. Now that problems have resulted from the rebuild, I might install one. That's way off topic though.

The symptoms- No Video Signal. Since my last round of fixes and diagnosis nearly 2 months ago, I took advantage of the RMA process and got BNIB Mainboard as well as CPU. And a refurb GFX card. Makes and models in sig.

The PSU I originally used was the alleged culprit for the system failure in the beginning which ran my system perfect for 3.5 months- ThermalTake 430. I since upgraded to a Rosewill 530, 80Plus Certified (one of a select few Rosewills that are 80P.C.) Today, before the build commenced I tested the PSU at a shop down the road. Put it through a series of test and all checked out AOK. I'm at my wit's end with this build. I've invested too much in it to scrap or afford to put much more in.

I suspect the Video card to be DOA, although HIGHLY unlikely. The refurb was well packed and the package had seen no abuse. DOA mainboard? DOA CPU? Really need some suggestions. Thanks.

No one has any advice?

To my experience; if the video card is dead then I would need a working replacement to verifiy...
If the CPU is dead, then the mobo wont post, but I SHOULD get a signal to my display...
The HDD spins up, beyond that I cannot hear any tell-tale signs.

:X Didn't really need that whole back story of what was replaced with what. You never did tell us what XFX card you have now...

It does sound like your video card is dead though.

The back story was pre-emptive for those that may come across this thread that helped me from the first scenario 2 months ago.

The graphics card is still an EVGA 9800GT. The original was RMA'd with a factory refurb. What I was saying is the likely hood of a refub coming to me DOA is less likely then that of a retail one. In most cases refurbs are tested a bit more extensively before being packed and shipped.

In the event the video card is dead, I have no easy way of checking unless I fork over some cash for a "test" card from a store and plug it in. If it works, then problem solved... if not, what are the other possible shortcoming?

Ok. Tested with another graphics card. Still no video signal. Tried another set of RAM modules, still nothing. Next step is replacing my cpu with another that is known to work. All else fails, replacement mobo/cpu and/or PSU.

Does that video card have an aux. power connection? Many times that is overlooked, and would fit all your symptoms.
