Read any good books lately?

Please recommend some good books to read. I prefer fiction since I have enough non-fiction reading to do for work and school. I'm getting ready to order a couple Palaniuk books and The Stand. (BTW the last few books I read are Insomnia, Digital Fortress and Deception Point.)

Also is there a better place to buy books online than Amazon?

George R.R. Martin - Fire and Ice Series
After hearing about it so much on ATOT, I picked up the first book and was instantly hooked. I'm not a really big fantasy fan, but have loved the first 3 books in the series I've read so far.

Digital Fortress sucked, didn't it?

Have you read many Kurt Vonnegut books? The last one by him I read was Bluebeard which was excellent. It is a fake autobiography written by an elderly abstract painter. Mothernight was also very good, as with most of his other work.

If you like The Stand and well you have too you will also like Robert R McCammon's Swang Song.

I'm re-reading The Rum Diary by Hunter S. Thompson. Amazing book.

Good series. A lot of people get lost in books 3 and 4 though. It gets pretty complex.

Yeah, just finished a really good book about a month ago. It's called 1862, and you have your pick of sources here at Pricegrabber.

Basically it's the story of how the US civil war would have been different if the British had come into the war on the side of the southern states. If you're into history at all, or like historical fiction, you'll enjoy this one. I think the author has also written another novel called 1901, which is about the assassination of President McKinley, if I remember right. Need to find that one sometime!
