Ok, so I'm trying to troubleshoot a friends system. It shuts down whenever trying to play ANY real media...video, audio, etc. It's a 1 day old pristine installation of windows xp. Tried the newest real alternative as well as the full real player. All updates from microsoft and hardware drivers are installed.
All hardware has passed stress tests, including ram.
edit: dxdiag passes all tests, all other players function normally (WM, quicktime, etc). It's just real media.
Any thoughts?
