actually he agreed to do it.
If it was myself, i wouldn't.
I think i saw around maybe 100+ episodes.
He made a lot of money off of the stunt as well.
As a matter of fact, Nasubi is THE first reality tv show of this past decade.
After that followed a lot of other ideas by the same show "Denpa-shonen"
Which the US then picked up on with the idea of survivor (a concept done to some degree on denpa-shonen.
He also sold about three books of his diaries which were national best sellers while he was undertaking this project as well.
They had a couple of other stunts like dropping guys off at the tip of south africa and they had to work their way up to the northern most point of scandinavia. They could only hitchhike and not fly etc when needed to etc. That was really interesting to watch. Took them like two years I think. Amazing, and incredibly moving to see how people care for other people out of the kindness of their hearts. They would work for people for lodging, food, transportation etc.
Another one they did was a die-hard baseball fan would be locked in a tent and they would have to watch a baseball game of their team and cheer them on. If their team lost, they wouldn't get to eat again until their team won and they also didn't get electricity. (with exception of the tv the next time they play a game) Now that was brutal as sometimes they would go five-six days without eating.
The show can be stupid, but rather humorous to watch, and at times incredibly moving due to its testament of how incredible human will and nature is.
