VENT:

Called mid-Feb and told $70 to be mailed Mar 1. Called Mar Mar 2 and told Mar 11. Complained about the delay and the time difference between the $100 and $70 rebate, asked to speak to a supervisor and after she said she was a supervisor I asked to speak to her supervisor, she hung up. Called back and after rep said she was a supervisor I asked to speak to her supervisor, she said none were available. (I'd imagine this to be true and that all reps are scripted to say they ARE the supervisor and that their sup is not available. Also noted that neither rep gave their name.) She looked at my file with 3 calls and rattled on and on -- I returned the favor of my first rep. Also contacted BBB.

end VENT. Thanks for reading.

EDIT: unrelated addendum

Cash in with Canon rebate promotion snafu has been resolved over the phone today. $265 rebate has been correctly adjusted back up to $435.

Well, I finally got my last $50 Rebate check from Soyo! I mailed in out on 07/19/04 and got my check (after a bunch of phone calls and faxes...) on 03/02/05. So much for the typical '6 to 8 weeks!

I think that is the last time I buy a Soyo or Tiger Direct Product with a rebate.

Gee my Outpost seagate 120GB ATA hard drive rebate was "invalidated" by Seagate, too.
Calling the 800 number seems to fix it, since they can't tell why it was invalid.

Must be just another hoop to jump through, like our freinds at Tgrdrct:disgust:

On the Western Digital 120GB SATA hard drive for the UPC. You are supposed to cut it out and scan a copy etc. But the UPC there is like two. Theres one barcode and under it says "Model: WD120... and then under that one it says WD Serial Number and then the bar code and another number (the serial number?). Do I cut that whole thing out with the two bar codes or only one of them and the other one is like for warranty or something?

once again my 2 seagate rebates are valid and in final stages of processing. all it took was a 5-10 minute phone call. the person that answered the phone said she couldnt tell why the rebates were invalid and she would validate them. so hopefully, ill have this money in hand in time for christmas

not really. around sept. there was a rash of panasonic ACs on sale at amazon, and with rebate. the rebate pdf date had expired but supposedly the deal was still on. when checking j&r's site, they had a notation that panasonic is 'aware' of the issue and still is accepting the rebate.

sure enough, i get a postcard around Jan. stating i bought the AC too late.

Do I blame j&r or Panasonic... shrug.

I have a print out of the j&r page and I've emailed panasonic about this. 4days, no reply back yet.

I also got the nice "invalidated by seagate" responce to my rebate...I called 1(877)271-3285 and talked to a nice gentleman named Rick Derrick who while I was on the phone with him said he was sending the rebate clearning house an email telling them to pay me my money! He said that he is fed up with the rebate process himself...He said that it is just a huge headache and its all screwed up. I asked him why there was such a big problem with the rebates and he said that for some reason the list of serial numbers the rebate house has is not correct and its all a big problem. He said I should recieve my rebate in 10 days and if I don't hear anything in 3 weeks to give him a call back. So basically here is what ya do to get your rebate from seagate:

Call: 1(877)271-3285
Explain: You mailed off all the correct information and checked it several times before mailing it out.
Wait: the 3 weeks if no answer recall...
Repeat: until you recieve your rebate!

Ill update once I get my rebate hopefully....

UPDATE: Web site now says validated by seagate...hopefully ill get the rebate soon...

btw...call and specifically ask for Rick Derrik...the guy was nice enough to even spell his name out for me so that I can get back in touch with him if I didn't recieve the rebate!

UPDATE #2:
Recieved the rebate today, Saturday March 19th...So try calling and talking to Rick Derrik...he'll hook ya up!

Called that number and talked to Steve Miller who said Outpost issued more rebates than Seagate allowed them and now they are being flooding with 10 of thousands of rebates and they wasn't going to pay them all and to call Outpost as it wasn't their problem and to go ahead and call the BBB if I wanted.
Called Outpost and after being tranferred three times was told it wasn't their problem and to call seagate back and if I didn't like it then don't buy anything else from them again.
Called Seagate back and talked to someone who wouldn't give me his name and was told to forget it I wasn't getting my rebate and he didn't care if I brought anything else from Seagate or not.
I think I will take their advice and not buy anything from either of them again.

this thread isn't worth a sticky. Hey mods, you have enough stickyz....time to get rid of some. I'm 100% positive that the percentage of ppl you are actually benefitting it not worth the effort. Of course there are going to be a few ppl replying swearing by this thread, but guess what....it still isn't worth it. If they are that careful to check, they'll still check. Try CONSOLIDATING threads with an all-inclusive sticky that links the threads like this. We have 9 stickys right now, which is way TOO MUCH.

There are more than a few people that use this thread. It has 11,162 views since 1-28-05, which is second only to the rules thread 15K+ views since 2-23-03. This is hot deals and hot deals are tied to rebates a lot of the time. This rebate thread is better than the people who actually post rebate information as a hot deal.

You couldn't be further from the truth. More people probably use this thread than any other single thread on hot deals.

I disagree. This thread got me the $50 that Seagate owed me. And I know I'm not the only one.

A lot of deals posted have rebates and most here have had more than one rebate problem. The contact information alone is worth it. Go pick on some other sticky thread.

I am still waiting for this rebate that I submitted 1-07-05. However, I did receive an email verification on 2-10-05 stating that my rebate was being processed and to wait 6-8 weeks for processing. So, they are still within there alloted time period (although just barely) but I am getting nervous as I have 2 others that are turning sour as well. 1 from Western Digital and one from Dell. I am still in the further investigation phase of those as well.
What else makes me nervous is that the Kingwin one came with this link www.rebate-zone.com/Kingwin but everytime I have checked it for the last 4 or 5 weeks it says page not found. Anyone had good or bad luck with rebate-zone.com for other rebates? I know they have handled tdk, pinnacle, and some others.

As far as my pertinent data goes, they required an original UPC, a copy of the fry's receipt (actually in this case it was outpost.com which is also eligible) and of course the rebate coupon clearly filled out.

I do of course have copies of everything and everything went out in a timely manner meeting all stated requirements. This one is only for $15 bucks, but I still want it!

The WD one I am waiting on is for $30 and the Dell one is for $150.00

As far as the dell one goes, if any of you have trouble with Dell rebates, here is what I have done so far.

I checked http://www.dell.rebatestatus.com/search.aspx which is what is recomended on the rebate coupon, and my rebate wasn't found. I then did a rebate query from the website which it gives you when your rebate is not found. I received an automated email stating that a customer service rep will contact me within 2-3 business days. That was on 3-4-05, 3 weeks ago. They still haven't contacted me, liars. After 1 week with no contact I did some further investigation and found this BBS http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board?board.id=RebateStatus
A quick post was answered within 24 hours by the admin stating I didn't complete the information needed (my address). I corrected this, and within another 24 hours my post was answered that the admin would submit my request. It took 4 or 5 days, but now my rebate shows as being processed at the prior web link (www.dell.rebatestatus.com).

So, I know that was rather a windy explanation, but if you are having trouble with a dell rebate I suggest you follow what I did. (although I haven't actually received it yet.)

EF9, what's that link supposed to do? It just took me to a search engine.
