Rebooting Issues

I just built a new system this past week, got it together last night.

Specs:
Asus P5W DH Deluxe (came with 1602 bios)
Intel C2D E6600
Tuniq Tower 120 in it
2GB of Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800
2x320GB Seagate Barracuda's
Apevia Iceberg 680w PSU
Antec Nine Hundred case.

I re-added my x1900xtx, X-FI Platinum and HP 940 DVD

As for the problem...

Install on XP SP2, updates, drivers and all went smooth. I ran 3D Mark with all the tests selected, worked great. I installed folding@home to run it over night and found that it had rebooted at some point since AI Booster & PC Probe were closed. I started Firefox (while f@a was still running) and got a reboot.

I had to run out, so I kicked off memtest-86 3.3 and left, returned about 4 hours later and it had reported no errors.

I booted back into Windows, stopped f@a from running and turned off automatically restart on XP. installed a few apps, opened Adobe Audition for the first time, clicked on the default session to play and rebooted... no blue screen. When it came up, I checked to make sure that the tick was still not on the automatically restart and it is not there.

I upgraded the BIOS to 1901, rebooted, started 3DMark (since I know that it had worked before) and it got through 3 or 4 of the tests and rebooted, again with no blue screen.

Temperatures:
The highest temperature I've seen on the CPU is about 32c and 34-35 on the motherboard, even during the 3DMark tests (I looked as one ended). It idles around 27c/CPU and 30-32/mobo.

Any ideas/help on what could be causing this?

Thanks!

Edit: I'm not over-clocking nor attempted that at this time...but the reason I got the Tuniq.

Wanderlust,

Digg-it, alternate mouse click on My Computer> Properties> Manage> Event Viewer

check Application & System for Errors

hopefully event viewer will give u a clue on what is causing the problem.

but I suspect it may be an issue with not having the latest Windows updates applied or the app causing the problem needs to be updated with latest patch... I'm sure u can figure it out from here...

ciao...

Actually missed that in previous post... I'm not showing anything on the event log that indicates errors, all I saw as where services started on start up. I did all the Windows XP updates after I built it so that's set, the folding@home I downloaded last night to let it run over night, so that's up to day. As I said, 3DMark ran successfully the first time I ran it but now it does the same thing. Actually it did it a few minutes ago. I started the f@a, was browsing the web and it locked for a second, no message and then rebooted, again with no blue screen.

I did clear the event log, so I'll make it do it again to see if there is something at the exact moment but didn't see anything when I first checked system/application logs.

Thanks for the message.

Just cleared events, started 3DMark, rebooted on test 4, no event log errors. The Application Events show applications started after the reboot.

The System Events show "The PciBus service was successfully sent a start control." I assume when I started 3DMark and then the next event is "Microsoft (R) Windows (R) 5.01. 2600 Service Pack 2 Multiprocessor Free." when it restarted.

Before I even did the new test, just for the fun of it, I uninstalled ATI drivers (with their uninstallall app) and reinstalled.

The only thing I installed was Office 2007, my 5180 printer and I had to re-install ATI drivers b/c I built with a 1600Pro 512 and it didn't recognize something on the x1900xtx (which is why I did the full uninstall & reinstall) between 3DMark working flawlessly (on all tests) and rebooting. I'm going to attempt to re-install since it did work at one time and I'm frustrated at this thing! LOL I wanted to test out gaming but I'll do the quick route of system/patches/Drivers/FireFox/3DMark/Symantec Corp AV/BF2142. hehe

Final post for the night. I rebuilt, installed XPSP2, Mobo Drivers, ATI Drivers, 3DMark.

First time it got to the 2nd test and rebooted, I disabled "Automatically restart" since I forgot at first. Ran it again and it got through 3 tests and rebooted. Again no blue screen, no event log entries.

According to PC Probe II for the board setup it's at 1.34 vcore, +3.3 @ 3.28v, +5 @ 5.12v, +12@12.25. I have no idea if that's good but I haven't modified anything.

So I'd think maybe it's memory or PSU but memory tests fine and doesn't appear to be any fluctuation in power when running tests. I'll run another loop memtest-86. My memory is running at 5-5-5-12 not sure if that's right... Anyway I'm frustrated, going back to my 4800+ to game for a bit...

Kind of sucks looking at an extremely well cooled system that keeps rebooting! :brokenheart:
