I have a G15 currently but I spilled water on it and now the keyboard, and sometimes my mouse, just stop working, like they have no connection to the pc.

I wouldn't mind getting another g15 but they are so damn expensive.

Whats a good keyboard for about $50 or less?

Weren't you the same one who spilled Coke on your Antec 900?

I recommend just calling Logitech and having them send you a new one...

Seconded. It's not fancy, but it gets the job done. The multimedia keys are handy.

That's funny, I just got a replacement for my G15 (blue one) a few days ago. The backlight for the little screen stopped working (apparently although the screen opens and closes, if you do it too often like I did something comes loose all by itself). They sent me the updated (orange) one for the low, low price of the $15 shipping of the original keyboard to them.

Just so you know, they won't care about you having a receipt or not, which is a relief b/c the G15 (including the new one) has an abysmally short warranty of only 1 year, compared to the 5 years most of their other ones have. Also it takes them a while to do anything like any warranty situation, so if you want a new one, act quickly.

If you do go the route of getting the new G15 and you have the older version, boy are you in for a treat. Nice as hell, typing feels better, plus each key is coated with something awesome and rubbery. Also, although the blue of the old one matched all my computery shit real nice, the orange backlighting of the new one is way easier to see. The screen is a bit smaller, though, but at least it's also orange. All in all the new G15 rocks.

I'm thinking of stocking up on them in case logitech decides to replace them with something fatally flawed like the mx518 (no forward button on the g5/g7? honestly...?). I'm also considering switching out all the orange LEDs for blue ones, but I'm not brave enough b/c i don't wanna mess with the screen.

Well, I went on a few tangents, but hope it helps.

I like the i-rocks KR-6810. It is back-lit, under $40, and compact.
I first saw it being used on rollaround patient monitoring computers at Stanford hospital.

thats what i've thought as well.

LOL

I am using my Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 4000 combo still and like it. Keys are a pleasure to type on, has extra features galore and is overall very comfortable!

$10 keyboard from my local PC store, Logitech 350 or something. Works great, and stands up to spills.

I'm using some Lite-On keyboard I got from Newegg for $8 with free shipping and it's one of the best keyboards I've ever owned. Seriously.

I buy whatever split / curved keyboard I can find at newegg for the lowest price. I can't use straight keyboards, they just don't feel right.

On complaint I had about it was that the paint on the keys wore off easily. I got the really really early edition of it (before it was released to the general public, woot somehow got a batch), so they may have fixed this. Either way, WASD were worn bare after a while.

I got a G15 from the recent promotion on amazon for $37 after rebate, and I really like it. If I were the OP, I'd wait until another rebate shows up and get a second G15

Was it a G15 ver. 1 or ver. 2? If it was a ver. 1 than the obvious answer is a G11, which is the same keyboard as the old G15, minus the screen. I just picked up a refurbed one from Ebay, which came in the manufacturer's box, for $30.00 shipped, and I love it.

If it was the ver. 2 than the obvious answer is still the G11, unless you are worried about the size of the keyboard due to the extra 2 rows of G keys. I know some people feel the keyboard is too big.

If you don't want the G11 due to its size, than you should still be able to pick up a refurbished G15 ver. 2 on Ebay for around $50.00. The G15 ver. 2 sells for quite a bit less than the ver.1.

i finally received my replacement g15 (a week) after they said i should receive it. it's the one with the flip up screen. i had the fixed screen on the previous one. this one seems a lot bigger. i haven't actually compared them side by side, and it may be because i've been using my old saitek eclipse for the past 3 weeks or so, but it seems larger.

I'm confused by versions - is this 1 or 2?

I guess I can't really complain since it was free.

Ver. 1 has the flip-up screen and 18 G keys; it has blue back lighting. Ver. 2 has the fixed screen, 6 G keys and orange backlighting. Ver. 1 is larger because it has the extra 2 columns of programmable G keys. They no longer make Ver. 1, so it is strange that this was sent to you as a replacement for a Ver. 2.

Nevertheless, unless you find the size to be a problem, the Ver. 1 is generally preferred by gamers over the Ver. 2. This can be verified by checking out the prices for both on Ebay; a brand new Ver. 1, in the box (when you can find one), will sell for as much as $100.00 or more.
