Both of those sound good that were mentioned. I'd go with Asus because there is a certain level of quality I expect with them. As for Epox, I haven't ever tried them but many reviews and user coments say their nfroce2 boards are good, so I wouldn't mind giving it a try either.

As far as Asus being "better quality" than other brands....I say...

I third it. While I own an ASUS now, both Mobos that died premature deaths that I have ever owned were both Asus boards. My EPOX and MSI boards gave me years of trouble free service.

That being said, I now own a P4P800 and love it.

I highly agree that its bulls*it. Soltek has really lifting my eyebrows, both there nforce2 and 800MHz Intel boards have been awesome in my experiences with them..same goes with ECS...I realize that ECS is for the budget PC's, but hey there's more people out there on a budget than can afford Abit and Epox, and ECS is in my opinion the best Budget motherboard maker around. There K7S5A Pro is rock solid performer for $40 new. Soltek aims to compete against the big names, and lately they've done that and some in my books, with the price $40 less on there boards than the other names as well

Given it's strictly for internet and Office use get the Biostar M7VIG PRO (KM266) for 56$ shipped@newegg and save some money.

Should at least make use of the 333FSB... If it's only for internet and office, why not go for a 1700+

i always get asus because i'm a dumb newb. I had an MSI motherboard with a diagnostic LED and it says "CPU is no good!" so I get a new cpu and it still says "CPU is no good!" Eventually I get an asus mobo, rest of the components the same, and it says "ram no good!" I change the ram and suddenly everybody is happy.

Asus is good when they don't die, but there's about a two week turnaround between sending the board in and getting a replacement (as I'm finding out right now). I'd avoid ECS anything like the plague. The ECS board I had just sucked...plain and simple, just my idiotic opinion. But if you need integrated graphics go with an nForce2, won't be hampered nearly as badly as any other chipset.

With Asus, you are really just paying for the name. Not to mention I hate their BIOS. But if you aren't gaming or overclocking at all, just get a cheap nForce2 board by either Abit, Epox, MSI or Soltek... none will dissapoint
