Recommend new earphones/buds

I have a 3.5 yr old pair of Sennheiser HD 280 Pros that I really like, but I feel a need for change. So, I'm looking for a replacement pair of closed cans <$125

I want my music to come alive

To categorize my musical tastes would probably be The Corrs. Mids, Highs, Bass isn't as important. Will not use these for gaming.

Source is a laptop.

Currently, I'm looking at the Shure E2C and Etymotic ER6i. However, there's a $45 price difference between the two, so...yeah...

Any suggestions?

Just get a headphone amp. It'll sound much better than a new pair of cans.
$50 headphone + $200 amp > $250 headphone with no amp

All these are very nice. Personally I still like the Sennheiser HD 280Pros though...but if you're looking for a change I guess those should do well for you. One thing, even though those are full closed-backs, they're not as "tight" as the Sennheiser, they're more "loose" fitting...unlike the Sennheiser which kinda clamps onto your head.

i'm using the sony mdr-7506 with an art headamp. i didnt like the sound of the 280 pros when i a/b'd them.

i will take 497 and 280 the same class, but different type, 497 is open, while 280 is close. the above class should be 590,580.

cnet review 497 as the best headphone of under $100, i am looking for a better headphone for my ipod, but cant find 497 anywhere at local store

Good idea. It's always a good idea to test out audio equipment before you get it. Headphones especially because in addition, how it feels on your head is a big factor too.

If you want nice earbuds then go with Shure E3C or E2C if you're not willing to spend that kind of cash. They are AWESOME. No regrets whatsoever buying them.
