Damn! Can't believe i missed the hostpc 50% off deal. I was with them years ago, and loved the service back then.

is godaddy any good? If not, whats a good host for a small business?

I would think that for hosting there are plenty of better deals out there than what godaddy has to offer. I have used them for registering my domains, but their hosting prices were too steep for me.

I'm looking for cheap hosting right now. I just threw godaddy out there because they seem popular. What are some good reliable hosts ?? I've heard of HostPC from this site but somebody said its not good for a business. Theres so many damn hosting companies I don't which one to choose and everybody has a different opinion on each one.

I understand where you are coming from, everywhere you turn there's a hosting company. How do you know which one is worth a crap. I signed up for hostpc.com on sunday(7/23) afternoon at around 1PM, and they still haven't set up my account. I submitted a support ticket yesterday at 4PM and asked them when I should expect my account to be opened up. They said within 12 hours or so. Well it's still not created. So right now, I don't know what to think. They had a 50% off deal and I guess that may have created a surge in account creations, but still, they should update you alittle better.

I am wondering if you managed to get this resolved?

I as considering hostpc, don't need it for too much and their 35/yr plan looks attractive (Too bad i missed the deal for the 50% off) but wondering if they're trustworthy.

yeah, got the account setup around 2PM yesterday. Now I just gotta figure out how to make a webpage. Is dreamweaver an easy decent program to use?

I went with the 35 dollar(17 w/ discount) plan also.

That 35/yr deal was the one I was contemplating. If you want a decent free program, try HTML-Kit. I like it alot better then NVU.

I do have databases, php, etc, and use Zencart. Looked at what Rossman posted re: Knownhost (and also looked at webhostingtalk.com) and am wondering whether that would work well, seems comparable to what I have now and not too many negative comments. Haven't decided 100% to move on but just want to look at my options. People on this board seem to jump around to various webhosts as excellent deals come up but I am inclined to stay loyal to someone who has given excellent service in the past, even if there are better deals out there. Just don't get what's happening right now.

Any comments/feedback on hostmonster.com? Or netfirms? How do these compare to knownhost?

one of the best deals on the net imo. so many features, tons of bandwidth and lots of storage for not much money. u can find a coupon code on webhostingtalk as well. dont know about reliability yet due to site not being up but it seems fast and good. support cares about their customers as well

Does Dreamhost still have their 777 deal?

DON'T use dreamhost

Another AT member, AgaBoogaBoo(sp???) I THINK, has a web company: cernax hosting. I would highly recommend them, although I currently host on hostgator
Thanks for the recommendation, I sincerely appreciate it.

To those in this thread: Remember, no need to switch, the service is still going and should be without issue because RossMAN, DeviousTrap, Dartworth, and I are doing what we can to keep it alive.

Ill give another vote to cernax. Best host I have ever had.

I have a dedicated server I can provide people with hosting from. It would include:

Debian Linux
PHP5
SSH/SFTP/POP3/IMAP
Up to 3 domain names

I could do $25 or $30ish a year. PM me or catch me on AIM: superwormy and we can talk.

Personally I'd be willing to pay up to $25 a year or so because my site is useless and just for some neighbors to see a schedule of some things and it's jsut not worth anything more than that to me.

I know hostpc.com has a Budget setup for $25/yr and my wife uses them and has very good success. Would anyone else recommend them or recommend someone else?

Thanks!

HostPC appears to have the best deal VS feedback and reliability.

Holy Thread Revival Batman!

Just host yourself and buy a static IP from your ISP or use dyndns (however, you'd lose your MX records if you use dyndns as cnames overwrite all other records).

I can take on some people if anyone is interested. I'd be willing to do accounts at $25/year. FreeBSD, PHP 5.x, Apache 2.2, MySQL, unmetered bandwidth/space (as long as you arn't using like 60gb/month then I won't care). Automated backups and other fancy stuff is available too (Ruby/Rails, PostgreSQL, etc.)

I don't have a website up quite yet, but PM me or e-mail me at support@consolibyte.com and I can set you up with an account.

I've had the $3/month package for a while now and it's been pretty great so far. No problems that I've seen.
