Recover Hard Drive

While installing Windows onto one of my friend's PC, I accidentally hooked up my external hard drive to the system.

During the partition setup screen, I deleted the contents of the hard drive. Haven't formatted it yet, but I did delete it already.

Is there anything I can do to recover the information?

Did you delete a partition or just a bunch of files?

I deleted the partition
