The freedoms that many Americans and permanent residents hold dear are under attack by this Administration. That is undeniable. However, the consequences of Trump Administration actions are being primarily born out in Red States. I don’t think the GOP flock is fully aware of what’s happening to them.

With the SCOTUS rulings essentially eliminating nationwide injunctions when the President shits all over the Constitution, relief will only be granted to state governors and AGs that are willing to stand up to Trump and sue.

That means America is essentially divided, and blue states are the only real American states if you value your constitutional freedoms. This could have very real consequences long term. We’re just now getting to the ”find out” phase of all the fucking around with Roe v. Wade and state abortion bans. The only reason why we’re not seeing more college-educated women leave red states in droves is a highly depressed job market this summer for new grads. It’s only going to get worse as the consequences go well beyond “my body my choice” to who’s eligible for Medicare/Medicaid, what history lessons and books can be taught in public schools, etc.

Even purple states aren’t safe. Here in NC, the GOP gerrymandered legislature is looking to strip away more powers from the Dem AG and Governor and want to make it illegal to sue the Federal Government without the legislature’s approval.

So how long will it take for people in red states to wake up and realize they no longer live in “real” America? When will they start voting with their feet?

Technically all of his injunctions are dissolved now, yes. As to if SCOTUS will find a way to Calvinball themselves to why they can stand? Of course.

Like right now if blue states want to they can confiscate all guns and each individual owner would need to sue to get them back. Guess how long SCOTUS would allow that despite that being their clear ruling here.

I do however feel bad for the people that will be targeted and crushed by the wheel of hatred (but all the more reason for safehaven states to crush NIMBYs and bring on abundant housing to help our fellow citizens escape red state oppression).

They get their two senators and a rep even if they have 1 guy living in the state (guess he gets to be all three?) so it actually behooves them to drive off as much of the undesirable portions of their population while still retaining a disproportionate amount of political power.

If you look at the state of play, we're in a really bad spot right now. SCROTUS is ingrained for at least another decade. Meanwhile, population shifts to the Sun Belt make Senate math and Electoral College math even harder after the next census. After 2030, it won't be enough just to hold the Rust Belt trio and NE-2.

To answer OP's question, don't count on Red states waking up soon, if ever. The only way we win key elections in the future is by flipping "independents." Our collective fates really are determined by a smallish number of convincible voters in a small number of states.
