Reduce saturation over hdmi

when connecting a laptop to an hdmi screen, colors are very saturated, and the saturation option is not available.

using intel graphics in an ivy-bridge based laptop.

When connecting the same screen via VGA, saturation is available and works fine, but it the quality is quite crap and blurry with shadows, even if i click on auto adjust on the screen itself.

the only connectors available are VGA and HDMI, no DVI or DP on either the laptop or the screen

Normally you should adjust colors at destination, not source, so check your screen settings.

However, if you suspect laptop color settings have been tampered with, your can check color settings in the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel:

Those options are not there unfortunately, they are replaced with:
YCbCr: Enabled/Disabled

This is an issue with HDMI screens that make them get detected as "Digital Television" instead of the correct "Digital Display".
