Same here, but looks like it may be an older version. Manual says v 3.1. I don't see a version number on the board itself. Both the manual cover and the box containing the board and accessories are green and yellow.

I bought a NEW one about a year ago, and the manual that came with it was in English only, with a copyright of June 2001, BUT that manual also says K7S5A v 1.0. BTFOOM! Will start assembly of the system Friday but doubt I will finish until sometime Saturday. The manual that came with the one I just got had sections for several languages.

I was VERY impressed with speed of delivery: Ordered about 9 PM EST on 11/4 and FedEx had it here before noon on 11/7 -- about 60 hours total, all the way to boondocks, Virginia, and that was with the free Saver shipping! If this board works, younger daughter is going to have one helluva Xmas present!

They don't promise any accessories. These are generally returns I'm guessing, from people that couldn't figure out how to install or whatever. If they didn't send back the IDE cable, you won't get one. Some may not have the original box, etc. Assume you'll get nothing because they promise nothing besides the board. But I've usually gotten everything. I usually only get refurbed mobos that I already have (or got in the past) a retail one of. That way I have the manual and driver disc already.

I know this, I have ordered from them plenty. I just wanted to see what the overall status was since Newegg had so many of them.

WTF, they couldn't deliver it even though it was on the truck?

I'm over in Athens and they always come by when I'm not home. Last ttime they just gave me a form that said they could leave the package if I'm not there. I had it filled out and back to them an hour later.

Just keep compaining saying that its fruad by advertising a different board than sent and they will probably refund you.. it took me a few emails.

lsman, i can't update bios to get lan because the board doesn't have the lan plug so its not built-in... hardware not a software problem.

Got mine yesterday, bareboned and OEM. It had the onboard LAN.

I picked up an XP1600+ from them last week to replace a Duron 950. The XP1600+ will go in my retail ECS K75SA that the 950 was in and the 950 will go in this refurb board. I'll have it all set up tonight, I'll post how it all worked. Now to find some cheap PC2100...

if it has a XP around the socket A, it is ver 3.X

the sticker or the sticker on the BIOS is just a general group number telling you the patch of board it ship out.

My two came and both v3.1. Funny thing is one has some little hook type piece on the AGP slot (kind of like what holds the memory in place). Never saw that before.

Here's a question though - any of you have any luck installing a new sound card and overriding the onboard sound? I remember trying a couple of times on my other K7S5A and had conflicts (SB Live Value).

Any advice or help?

I've been running with on-board sound disabled on my K7S5A for over 6 months now. I have a SB Live Value PCI also, no problems at all. I bought this board used awhile back with a Duron 1Gig.

Yea, I built (3) systems and replaced the on-board sound with Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound cards.
Another system I used a MadDog 6.1 channel sound card. Never had a problem with any of the 4 systems. My advise, stay away from Creative.

I had no problem with installing a SB Live card on my K7S5A.Just disabled the onboard sound in bios and was good to go.A nice board for the money for the money once you get a few kinks worked out.I paid like 40 bucks for mine new.

When I installed my Audigy I just disabled the onboard sound (its called AC97 or smth) in the device manager, shut down, plugged in the audigy, booted, installed and I was done. I havent had a problem since!

Try different slot. That's what i did to make it work.

Thanks all for the answers. I am looking at a HTPC setup for this board and found what looks to be a decent sound card with S/PDIF inluded. Zoltrix Nightingale PRO 6 if anyone is interested. I won't be getting my case for a few weeks so won't be able to test the motherboard until then.

I wonder if I was using PCI slot next to AGP? I have heard there can be conflicts there because they share an IRQ or some nonsense.

I got two of them a few days ago and they were both just like brand new in box, with all accessories, etc, with lan, ver3.1!! The only problem is the BIOS keeps failing checksum occasionally when I boot... Works great otherwise! for 58 bucks, I got 2 "new" working mobos instead of 1 truly NEW one
