DieselMan, this is true

<< Many of the so-called "refurbished" motherboards from newegg are actually returns from customers who couldn't get their system to boot or run properly (often due to a lack of experience, not a defect from the board >>

BUT there are also people who intentionally damage a motherboard when they send it back so they wont have to deal with the company sending it back to them, dumbass slaps a system together, cant get it to work, rma's the board (after making sure it is dead) I have seen posts about this here at AnandTech

Among the many items I have purchased from Newegg are refurbished Iwil kk266 mb, liteon 24x10x40 burner, pioneer 16x dvd slot, ATI 32mb video card and a modem. All have worked flawlessly.

I've ordered an IWill KK266-R, an Aopen slot load DVD, and a video card from them, all were working like new, and looked new, but the mobo had a little dust deposits that were partially swept off the board. All in all I think Newegg is one of if not the best online computer company. Maybe I should be careful of the refurb mobos, but as far as other componenets go, I am not reluctant to buy them from the refurb. The Newegg refurbs save me s*it load of money.

P.S. I love Newegg

Whats with all the badmouthing.

Newegg is in my opinion _THE_ premier online parts vendor. I have had 0 problems and if I ever did I feel 100% sure that they would take care of it. Any of the people wondering if they should or shouldn't buy from them, don't hesitate to buy from them. You won't be disappointed.

You will always have potential problems with open box or refurbed products. Tanke it with a grain of salt. If you don't want to deal with potential problems BUY NEW. It's as simple as that.

Its a hit or miss thing, sometimes you get good items, sometimes you do not. I myself like to take the chance of getting items a lot cheaper, even though a few may be dead.

Ive received like 6 refurbs from them...3 mobos, geforce2 ti200, ibm 60gxp, and some other stuff. All worked good, and only 1 mobo came without manual and drivers.

Newegg's refurb section=gamble.

I have ordered 3 mobos from their refurb section, and 2 worked fine. The other (epox 8kha+) is currently in the process of being rma'ed (and probably stuck back in the refurb section after they issue me my replacement).

I also ordered a video card, g3 ti200 and it had a problem where it crashed every 10 minutes. I RMA'ed that for a replacement and since they were out they refunded.

So to recap, as of right now I'm 2/4. I gambled, in the end I dunno if I won or lost, probably just broke even.

I ordered 7 cpus yesterday from their refurb'ed section(couldn't help myself, they were too cheap), I hope those work out.

I wouldn't recomend ordering from newegg's refurbed section unless you are ready and willing to test it all the way out and do an RMA on it because it doesn't work.

If the item doesn't work it ended up costing you time and the money it costs to ship it back, but in the event it does work (50/50) then you ended up saving a small sum of cash over buying it new.
