Reliability: Intel AnyPoint PCI vs. Orinoco

Hey all,

Well for many many hours over many many days I've looked around at various Phone vs. Wireless solutions (and am now going insane!) It seems to me (and to Anand's guide) that the Intel AnyPoint is the best phone solution. On the wireless side, Orinoco seems to be the best (at least in terms of performance for price).

I have a desktop with cable modem near a phone jack. Same floor, different room is another jack and desktop. Second floor, ditto.
Longest distance is 30 ft. (but through walls and floors.)

Can anyone give me some idea of which system is the most reliable? I need something simple (this is for my parents) as well as consistently close to 10Mbps. So basically, do people that have these systems think one is better than the other?

I am using an Apple Airport and Orinico Gold cards for my laptops at home. I get pretty good speeds, except when transferring large files. It's reliable and really easy to configure as well. The Airport also looks pretty cool (if you even care about that) and has a pretty reasonable price.

I have to admit that the only other experience I have is with 3Com's 802.11 solution that we used at work. It's just as good as the Airport, but it costs a lot more.

HomePNA seems to work fine. I've mentioned it in my post. MUCH cheaper than wireless, but not as cool.

You might want to look at the linksys 802.11 wireless products that just came out. They seem pretty inexpensive (IE: their access point only costs about $250, compared to $700-$900 for many others).
