You want to outlaw religion, which means you want to be the thought police, which means you want to RESTRICT peoples freedoms. You don't understand that, so you are a tool. You've let your idiotic ideology that religion equates to evil destroy what liberty and freedom truly mean in your head. From one non-religious person to another, grow up.

I'm right here nolinear. you can speak to me, if you dare.

Well if you have trouble participating in a conversation that doesn't flatter you by direct address, pretend this post was addressed to you:
No. I'm going with that "belief in the moral legitimacy of a state to define the values of the people" is a religion thing. [Zorkorist] has that in spades.
Lack of an old-fashioned deity is not a lack of religion. The title of this thread is a deeply religious assertion and I haven't seen a word out of you or any other poster in this thread that comes close to contradicting that.

You really should stop calling Zorkorist non-religious. Anyone who wants to be the thought police is selling religion - whether they admit it or not.

True that.
I've explained to ya'll how Religion does not matter to be free. Ya'll have yet to explain to me how Religion does matter to be free.

Once you have concepts like freedom of speech, and freedom of the press in place, why would someone need freedom of Religion?

It's only purpose is to ADVOCATE Religion, which is a failed form of Government, and should be banned.

Why do we need to remove freedom of religion from the bill of rights? Why is it necessary? Seems like we've done pretty well these 200+ years with it being there. In fact we've became more secular over time with it, so I see no need to remove it besides being the thought police. Freedom of religion doesn't NEED to be there for there to still be freedom of religion due to the other things, but to outright BAN religion stomps on every other freedom protected from the government. How do you not understand that?

I admit my thread title was a bit, provocative.

Removing Religion from our Constitution sets a precedent, that Religion doesn't matter, just like race, or creed, or sex, etc. Don't matter.

It's the rest that matters.

So? Peoples freedoms are restricted all the time for their own good. The longer mankind spends on this planet, the more dangerous ideas will be developed and need to be controlled. The fact that religious ideas, arguably one of the most destructive types ever conceived, have been allowed to run amock largely unabated for centuries is a testament to the failure of governments and the continued social evolution of man... until now.

What we've done with the idea of smoking in America, we can do with religion. The day I don't have to watch the family of 8 join hands at a local restaurant to pray before their meal will be a good day.

Anyone that knows my positions knows that I am certainly no friend to religions, but your suggestion that religion should be outlawed is absolutely preposterous. That you think that such would even be pragmatically possible only betrays your gargantuan imbecility.

Really, you do the rest of us atheists a great disservice. Kindly STFU now. Thanks in advance.

The western world has secularized quite a bit over the past 200 years, a process that has accelerated over the past 50 years. Political/religious backlash aside, I see no reason that this trend will not continue into the future. A world without religion is of course not ever in the cards, but religion and superstitution will likely further recede with cultural evolution. Government intervention is impractical, oppressive and in the end, totally unnecessary.

Hey, Neybor.

Cerpin, Religion is easily discredited and should be banned.

Why do you even try and support their beliefs?

Do you think God will save you?

Think about it.
