Religious folks views of Atheists

I see a lot of thoughts on this forum from religious people about atheists and how we are. They are usually wrong from my stand point being an atheist. But id like to hear from the religious folks what they think atheists are like in our daily lives.

Do you think we only hang out with other atheists? Have atheist parties/gatherings? Talk about atheism daily? Bash religion daily? Things like that, but not just those questions. Feel free to tell us what your view of an atheist is and how we our lives daily with friends/family/work etc.

I know i only trying to get the views from religious folk about atheists, but i'm sure it will devolve into the usual debates back and forth as they all seem to end up at eventually.

I'd love for this to be an honest debate eventually and maybe religious folk can actually learn something about atheists vs. just attacking them as the enemy.

I see atheists as people who simply see the world through a different set of eyes.

We're all people with various hopes, fears, etc.

Frankly, I've never cared how atheists live their lives. As far as I am concerned, we all need to co-exist, and as long as we can do that, I'm fine having atheist neighbors.

What really needs to cease is the constant bickering about whose worldview is more "logical", or whose life is "empty" for not believing in something.

Its all divisive, and childish.

I dont have any negative feelings towards athiests. I view you just as I would anyone else. I dont think you are worse or better than christians, which is what I am. You have good and bad atheists as you have good and bad christians. People are still people and you have (according to Biblical standards) very moral atheist as well as very immoral atheists and the same is held true with my christian brethren. The main difference is found in you dont believe in God. I see enough in nature that makes me sure that a God exists and since have had enough personal experience that just increases that belief. Atheists dont see it that way and thats fine. If you cant find proof in God then you shouldnt believe in God.

I always saw it more opposite that atheists think all christians are idiots that follow you around spending their time telling you about Jesus. Yet rarely do I see anyone doing that. Then you have then bunch that thinks everything wrong in the world is due to christian beliefs.

People are discussing religion, so I'll just wander off and mind my own business.

Every one else can figure out who they will attack next.

I'll be elsewhere.

i have a rational fear of religious people; something is wrong with you if you believe something which is demonstrably not true, and i don't care about the social aspect of it all. you are the one likely to stab me in a fit of rage, not the other way around.

I second those thoughts. Logic, for many, has become a new god. The problem with this god is that it's a human construct which can never teach us anything new. At best, logic can simplify but, will never answer the question "why." As a cultural anthropology hobbyist, I see the rise in atheism not, due to an increase in scientific or logical thinking but, the result of isolationism preferred by basement dwellers.

I have had several folks I have met tell me I seem like a nice fellow with a interesting point of view (atheist) but that I would run the elevator in the basement of Hell for my beliefs.

That statement with one word changed would work every bit as well from the religious side. It would also be every bit as "true".

My problem with atheists is that they're trying so hard to co-opt agnostics and bring them into the fold that many if not most people now believe that atheist and agnostic are synonymous.

All gods are Human Constructs.

Logic has taught us more than everything else combined.

What does it mean to even ask "Why?"?

Atheist and Agnostic are positions on different questions.

Are you saying God has been proven to not exist?

I'd love to this evidence -- science proving negatives now!

This to me is just stupid. Go to a jail and see how many murderers and rapist are practicing christians. Im not saying christians are perfect but to be as misinformed as digdog is basically just pathetic.
Your fear is a very irrational one at best.

I suspect many were not "practicing" at the moment of their Crime, but many likely were before and after their crime.

Your missing the context even though what you said is correct. Let me put it another way. I know a lot of people who have a gym membership. But the first and only time they actually went to the gym was the day they bought a membership. I also know people who go almost everyday. Who would you say is an active gym member?
If Digdog really thinks that the likelihood of a Christian getting mad and stabbing him is something to worry about I highly suspect he is just trolling or stupid.
You just don't see a high rate of breaking the law with Christians. That's why I said take a look at who is in prison and you just don't see many Christians.

Well. until someone provides some kind of evidence either way we could go around in circles forever.

You seem to be leaning a bit on a No True Scotsman fallacy though.

How about recalibrating your sarcasm-detection meter, bruh...

Please. You cannot expect people to see sarcasm in something that looks very similar to your usual posting.

Use an emote or something if you're actually intending to be sarcastic and not just saying so after the fact.

Like I said, stop taking stuff so seriously. There was an exclamation point at the end of my last sentence, and most people know that God has not been disproven.

Chill dude...

I don't think this chart is proving what you think it is. Isn't it just showing what percentage of a particular religion is held by inmates who now believe in a religion?
You do realize how much Christian organizations are involved in prison outreaches right?
I don't know where you might find the statistics for the entire prison population on did the inmates have religious beliefs before going into prison or not.
This post truly isn't me being argumentative.

I dont think about people like that. I realize a lot of people aren't going to heaven, but I am not so sure atheists will go to hell either. Judge people by what they do and how they act, but let God decide who he will punish. Feel free to believe in what you want.

What was that saying about the content of your character?
