Sometimes I have abnormal problems transferring files or doing remote connections to my home network. The router seems pretty rock solid, but to aid in the troubleshooting process I would like to be able to remotely reboot it. However, as I browsed through the menus of the web interface on the router I noticed there are no options to do a cold or warm reboot. There hasn't been a firmware update for the router in a while, so I am assuming the current software is rock solid and they aren't going to release another. Given this, there probably wont ever be a remote reboot option added. Is there any devices say for example a manageable power strip where you could cut power to a particular outlet on the strip and turn it back on? I figure a device like this would be some what expensive so I probably wont buy it, but it would be interesting to know if it existed.
Just out of curiosity, why would Linksys leave an option like this out of the software? Could there be a possible vulnerability to incorporating an option like this? The only thing I could think of is the option is not available because it is unsupported by the hardware (IE there is no reboot button on it).
