Removing Heatspreader Clips

I've been lurking these forums and learning quite a bit for a while now, bout time I joined...

I recently bought a 1GB Corsair Twinx1024C2PT dual channel kit, but it wouldn't fit in my Gigabyte K8NS-939 mobo without removing the clips. The heatspreaders seem like they're stuck on there pretty good, and I read corsair uses thermal adhesive on them. Should I be worried that the heatspreaders will fall off eventually without the clips?

So it's just redundant to use the clips? which is what I figured, but I also figured they put them there for a good reason. I'm not even sure they use thermal adhesive I just read it somewhere.

Short answer is I should be okay, right?

Should be fine *if* it's glued on. If it isn't, use the clips or duct tape.

If it's good enough to hold my pants up, it's good enough to keep my heatspreaders on my ram. I'll keep duct tape in mind, it is gov't sponsored to keep harmful biological/chemical agents from seeping through windows afterall.

you can remove the heatspreaders if you want, they're more for aesthetic purposes.. unless you're overclocking a lot and putting a lot of volts to the ram, you dont need any cooling (especially heatspreaders, since you dont need to spread heat, unless you're using rambus )

I won't be overclocking, so like you suggested, I only want them for aesthetic purposes. Lower latency is a welcomed side effect even if I am taking a placebo, as these forums have led me to believe.
