Repeating Booting Problem - Help!

I have this problem that just won't go away!
Whenever I press the pc's start button, I hear the fans start spinning (The cpu & case fans) but the PC doesn't boot.. nothing happens and only the fans are spinning. This happens 99% of the time. Sometimes the pc will boot just fine but very very rarely.

Now when I press the power button and the fans are spinning, what happens next is I wait a couple of minutes and press reset several times until the PC "wakes up" and boots. This has been the problem for some time now. I thought it was the PSU so I got a new one but that only helped for a couple of days of normal boots (maybe it was just coincidental though) so now I think it's the motherboard doing all the problems. Does that make sense?

Oh my pc is -

1.4 Ghz Athlon TB
Epox 8k7a
2x 256 MB Micron 2100 I think
80 Gb WD Caviar bla bla HD
Hercules GTXP
Asus GF3 v8900 if I remember correctly

Any help is much appreciated guys.

did you try booting with only one stick of ram?

are you overclocking anything?

it could be your motherboard or harddrive that's causing it but its really hard to tell w/o swapping parts and whatnot

I tried with only one ram stick, didn't help.

And the HDD is new and is working fine so I don't think that's the problem.

You think it's either the mobo or the ram?

I'll try to play with the ram again today..

I'd say...

BIOS update,
MB driver updates,
Hot CPU,
Too high OC,
Low quality PS

BTW, Make sure you download the correct BIOS and drivers for your MB. This Epox board comes in two flavors of 8k7a... 8k7a... 8k7a+.
What code does your MB LED indicate when it won't boot?

i'll try the updates.

the cpu is not hot, there's no oc, and the ps is good quality - enermax.

I'll check the code thing, didn't notice that before.

If the new WD drive has an IDE cable to itself, make sure to jumper it as "Single Drive" if you didn't already. The other thing that comes to my mind is also the power supply, even though it's a good brand.

which enermax psu r u using..the 8k7a is picky about them due to the 5 volt rail which it drains...Bunch of people had/has problems running the enermax (mainly the 350 watt one) without doing the 5volt mod.I had to do it with mineran good for about a couple of years until I started having more reboot /freezing up problems...since then got rid of the 8k7a and got a 8rda..Also check your caps. to make sure there not going bad its another problem thats that mobo.some good onfo on it here http://forums.amdmb.com/showthread.php?s=7eac031b9f5f7dac45c62b45e0a96dd2&threadid=207538

I don't understand - is there a known problem between my mobo (epox 8k7a) and Enermax psu's??

I read about the 5 volt mod thing, I don't understand nothing about that and I don't wanna touch the psu cause I like living..

Should I replace on of the two or is there anything that I can do?
