So I'm building a new rig and since a friend is buying my old one I need to purchase a new video card. I'd prefer to wait until the next generation of cards come out so I want a low budget card that will provide similar or better performance than my old card, an MSI GTX 460 Hawk. My budget is around $150, the lower the better to be honest, I was thinking about picking up a an EVGA 750 Ti, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-024-_-Product from Microcenter near me, open box for $115. Can I do much better price/performance wise?

From what I've seen (I may be wrong) but the 750TI is about as fast as a 560TI, but with lower memory bandwidth.

Might be worth looking at AMD if you're not bothered about Nvidia features.

$115 is a solid price for a 750ti. I would also look at 265/7850/7870 in that $150 price range.

I just went from a GTX 460 to an AMD 7850. Pretty happy with it, although I'm not playing anything intense that needs the extra power.

Open box does have the occasional horror stories of cards not working or getting broken soon after, so you want to look for an universal warranty, if the card has it, then its okay as you can replace the card if it gets broken.

At $115 the GTX 750 TI is worth it, if you want about 15% to 20% more performance you can get the R7 265 from AMD for $150.

Since you want to go lower than $150 if possible then the $115 750 Ti is a good deal. Grab it and don't look back.

That's a sweet deal for a 2GB 750 Ti. Like others have said, grab it and run. Make sure there's some kind of warranty support for it though.

I really enjoy the HD 7850 2GB in my secondary rig. Very capable card for the money. Newegg has one (new) for $119.99 with a $30 MIR ($89.99).

It'll be a little bit faster than the GTX 750 Ti. If you want to stick with Nvidia the 750 ti is just fine - very low power usage vs. performance. Personally, I'd rather spend $15 more and get one brand new that no one else has touched.

$135 for 750Ti makes little sense since R9 270 costs $145 and is 24% faster and comes with 2 free games:

That's $154.99 vs. $129.99 (before factoring in any rebates). An extra $35 might be material to the O.P. and he did want to keep it as far below $150 as possible (and still better the GTX 460). Again, (since you deleted it from the quote) I'd go for the HD 7850 2GB I linked for $119.99. Plus the $30 rebate on it (bringing it down to $89.99) is in the form a check, not a "card". You can actually deposit it and use it towards paying on the credit card bill for the purchase.
