Replacing PS: case position problem

I've been having problems with my old Antec HCP-1200 PS so I contacted Antec CS and they sent me a Antec HCP-1300 for free (nice of them). The thing is, while the HCP-1200 has the exhaust fan blowing out, the HCP-1300 has the fan facing upward or downward inside the case (depending upon how you position it).

I have a HAF-X case. Right now on top all my top fan spaces are currently taken, as well as in the back, and I'm not even sure if it would fit properly without moving the motherboard down (which is a whole project in and of itself).

I have two 980Tis with ACX 2.0 cooling (fans which circulate air inside the case). Would it be OK to put the PS at the bottom with the PS fan pointing up towards the GPU's fans?

Edit- I just read the manual closely- I can position the PSU either up or down. It's on carpet (albeit on casters). I guess since I installed my own fans it would be best to install the fan face down, and just clean the filter every so often.

Still- My original question remains- would it be OK to blow air on the GPU fans?

The fan on HCP-1300 blows air on the PSU's internal components and exhausts it out the back of the case. Either way you place it, the fan will blow air into the PSU, it will not blow air out of the PSU.

As long as you have a dust filter under the PSU, it's fine to place it with the fan facing down on a carpet. If you don't have a dust filter then it's probably better to put it upside down. The graphics cards don't mind either way

You can not install the PSU in the top of your case. That is not even an option.

The fan hole in your new PSU is an air intake, not an exhaust. The air is exhausted through the back of the power supply (the side where the mains power cable is connected).

Put your PSU with the fan facing down so it will get cool air from under your case and not hot air from inside your case (if you were to install the power supply with the fan facing up).

Also, put some board under the PC case so it not sits directly on the floor carpet.

Dust is a bigger problem for the PSU than warm intake air. Only use the bottom intake area if there's a filter

Dust is a problem only because it leads to overheating.

Yes, and the effects of that can be much more severe than the effects of taking in a few degrees warmer air.

Thanks. I figured as much. I'll take a look now. There must be a filter in there- it is a HAF-X after all, it has pretty much everything else.
