I have been a gamer a lot of years. I basically gave it up ~5 years ago but my health has been in rather poor shape lately so I started gaming again.
If you have seen the tv-show Monk you might have a clue as to how 4n4l rententive I am when it comes to my computer (when I game. I dont care much if its in the context of non fps online gaming)
Anyways, being the way I am I happily enjoyed the first motherboard review I have ever seen where dpc latency is mentioned. http://www.anandtech.com/show/4493/gigabyte-z68xud3hb3-review/5
As you can see there the asus p8p67 pro is supposed to have the best average dpc latency at ~101 microseconds. The z68 average is at ~230 microseconds.
Since I have a msi z68gd80 I started wondering how that was measured. Was the cpu 'idleclocked' (I guess thats ~1600mhz for most sandy bridge cpus) or was it running at 4ghz +? What drivers were installed? Im particularly curious about if the soundcard had its drivers installed?
My dpc is at around 60microseconds when Im in regular windows (1600 mhz). When in game (bfbc2 currently) I have around 80-90 microseconds. The only thing I can think of that I have done to manipulate dpc is install timerresolution (a nice little prog that increases the dpc time resolution thereby increasing chance of lowering dpc a small amount). I also installed the low dpc driver by brainbit for my asus essence. This doesnt affect much unless in game as far as I can tell. So my question is, hth did he get that high dpc counts? Also my last motherboard was an asus p8p67 pro, which also had sub 100 microsecond dpcs.
Please give us gamingnerds more info about the important things like dpc
