Resident Evil (the movie) question

I saw this movie the other day and have been wondering why Alice (the main character) has a scar on her collarbone area. I expceted that they would show where she got it or explain it at some point in the movie, but if they did I missed it.

Why put a scar on a character unless it has a purpose? Maybe there is something in the games that describes its origins but I've never played them.

Anyone know??

A week or so ago I was told by a friend that the storyline actually followed a yet unreleased game. Of course, take this for what it's worth (heresy), because I never looked into it myself. But, I just wanted to add that it's possible that the scar would be explained in that future game.

That's what I thought at first too, but the girl who was decapitated on the elevator definitely wasn't Alice.

i guess it might've come from her falling in the shower?

She seemed to first notice it after getting up in the shower, so I figured it was from falling there.

I just watched the first and second movie for the first time ever last night and here's my view and input on this question. Because i pondered on it for a good hour after watching both of those.
So in the first one its explained that a gas was released in the air while she was showering. Which caused her to lose all her memory(which progressively comes back throughout the movie but never fully to our knowledge). Which in turn would mean she wouldn't remember where the scar came from. She stared at it in the mirror with curiosity because she didn't understand where it came from.
Also there is no way the scar could come from her falling because #1 she landed on the other shoulder and #2 scars don't form after only 4 hours(which was how long the STARS soldier James "One" said her and Spence were possible knocked out) and with the look of the scar its been there for minimum a year. But we never find out where it came from because she never remembers.
Hope this kinda gives a sort of explanation and insight.

I legit just watched these movies for the first time and I was looking up to see if there was anything on her scars and well when nothing came up I saw this page and thought why the hell not lmao. I felt the need to express what I thought was the reason behind it. And I felt my reason was pretty damn accurate and good🤪😁.
