Restarts while playing game

I'm playing Warcraft III, Frozen throne and my computer sometimes likes to restart even though i doubt it's because of my video card overheating.

I searched the forums and when it happened to me again, the BSOD said it was beginning to dump my physical memory

the error code was this:

0x0000008E (0xc0000005 0x80533f7d 0xf1868bd4 0x0000000)

should i provide any more information, or can someone help me out judging by what is here?

Also, describe your system (motherboard, audio card, video card, etc...)

I'll look at the system log

My system is an Athlon 2100 to 2400 xp
ep 8rda+
onboard sound
msi ti-4200

if you need any more information, i'll provide

The DLL is for Windows Error Reporting and may have gotten corrupted.

To check you can run System File Checker tool to scan all of the protected files on the computer:
Goto Start\Run.
type sfc /scannow and click OK.

Have your Windows XP CD handy as you may be prompted for it.

not that i'm questioning, but i'm just wondering how can a corrupted dll file for windows for error reporting be teh cause of my random restarts which only occur while i'm playing wc3?

First off, what are your temps at full load?

Try memtest86 and see if your memory is wacked.

You're overclocking... run prime95 and check for stability.

after running oen round of memtest 86, it showed that there were 16 errors....

i was running my 256x2 Buffalo pc3200 chips at 2.5-2-3-3 at 200fsb w/ 2.7 vdimm

is it just that i have faulty memory or should i up the vdimm up to 2.8?

my temps at idle are 40 and at full load, 53. i kno thats a little high since it was my first time putting on the hsf and i kept on moving the hsf around. i ordered some more paste so i can reapply it so i hope that solves the temperature problem.

i did set it back to default settings and the problem still occured so i doubt it was because of my ocing that the problem occured

i used to get the same problem before. This is an overheating issue dude. I say %90 chance is ur CPU. Declock it back and u should be fine.

make sure you have adiquate cooling, for any athlon processor if you don't have a 2 fan powersupply you must have an exaust fan blowing out of the rear of the case if you intend to OC. (it's a good idea anyway) for an OC'd system I personally use and recomend one exaust on the rear, and one intake on the front, this typically keeps the case about 10F above the surrounding environment. (they don't have to be high speed turbine fans, just something to get the air moving in and out of the case) even a 2100+ shouldn't have problems hitting 2400+ speeds if it's a palimino, a t-bredB should hit at or near 2800+ speeds stable with adequate cooling.

clean, and lap down the heatsink bottom with a very fine grit sandpaper, and clean the grit off with alcohol, and let dry, then apply your thermal paste it will help lower you temps typically 1-5C depending on the heatsink of cource. just outa curiosity what heatsink are you using?

on the memory issue, you should de-clock your system and run the full check on startup, if it shows up clean it's more likely you have heat issues than memory issues.

I'm still not sure what the problem is. I've gotten new memorty sticks from Buffalo and ran memtest on it. Same thing with mutliple errors occuring and this is just at stock cpu speed w/ no ocing at all. I'm using a slk3700amb with just the one rear fan so i'm not sure if airflow could be it. My full system specs are

Case: antec slk3700amb
CPU: athlon xp 2100
HSF: Speeze ''WhisperRock II''CPU Cooler,Model:5F263B1M3G
mobo: epox 8rda+
Video Card: msi ti2400-8x
Ram: Buffalo Tech pc3200 2x256
*not sure whether it was ch5 or winbond chip but i bought it from marmaduke on these forums

right now i'm running at stock settings and i can't even get past 1 round of prime95. My temps for teh cpu is system: 30, idle 38, load 41.
