Fast food places include small bags of ketchup or mayo with the food.
Other places don't serve stuff separately at all, if there's a sauce, it's in the plate you ordered already, or in a small sauce bowl.
You can ask for the chili oil in a pizzeria though.

Diners or restaurants like TGI Fridays, Denny's, or Friendly's don't exist there?

As for the OP, I agree it's not very appetizing when you see dried ketchup or mustard on the lip of the bottle, but it's not like someone licked it.

One other thing you didn't mention - some ethnic restaurants (ie. Vietnamese) or even diners leave out utensils in an open jar and you never know when the last time those were even touched. I dare not even look at the bottom of the container. Now those people will just have to leave their health to chance.

As for the hot sauce bottles. I keep our bottles at home nice and clean giving them a good lickin while I eat. Sometimes just swigging the stuff right out. I have to work really hard in public not to do that.

You need to buy hotter sauce.

The last restaurant I went to didn't have this problem. Then again it was a three Michelin star restaurant... I don't know what kind of restaurants you are wasting your money at... ;p

Bet they didnt give you ketchup either. :biggrin:

You do sound like a hypochondriac.

You need to think rationally- only way to 'cure' this ill thought:

'When was the last time I actually got sick from eating out?'

Think about this END RESULT.

I haven't gotten sick from eating out over a decade ago. And I eat out a lot- both fancy and dumpy places.

It takes time for a virus or bacteria to grow or incubate. It could be days or weeks later that it affects you. You have no idea where you picked something up. It could have been from that restaurant you went to a few days ago for all you know. Or are you trying to say that nobody ever anywhere get's sick from things they have touched or eaten?

I have been sick from eating out a few times. Also got some food poisoning once from my HS cafeteria but I just sucked it up and never said anything like I probably should have.

Trust me, if you get food poisoning, it isn't days or weeks later, you'll pretty much know where you got it from. I know a couple guys who even poisoned themselves from their own poor prep habits. One guy left ribs out for too long and ate it anyway and another made a balogna sandwich with mayonnaise for work and didn't put an ice pack in his lunchbox on a 90F degree day.

if the dinner has gone bad because they left the stuff out of the fridge or similar, you will shit and vomit your soul out the very same night.

Days and weeks? If you get a cold or a gastro-enteritis because the waiter breathed on your plate, then you also get that by talking to ill people, so it's not due to food, but to the fact that you have people around you.
