Restore the history in IE6?

Anyone knows how to restore the history in IE6?

Story:
I backed up a Win98 machine onto another computer (meaning I copied everything except for the win386.swp over). Formatted the machine and installed Win2K. After transferring data files and testing it out with my friend, he said he had some URLs in the history and never saved it as a bookmark AND he can?t remember the URLs. So I thought ?no problem,? I?ll take a look at the backup and see where Win98 stores the history.

Under the \history\ dir, there are some more subfolders with index.dat. I took a look at these files but they didn?t contain the URLs my bud was looking for. Is there a way to find the URLs?

They should be in c:\windows\history, or wherever the following registry key indicates:

HKEY_USERS\Default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ProfileReconciliation\History then in the DefaultDir key, where 'windir' is the windows directory, whatever you have named it (usually windows)

That's what I figured to... but it was just index.dat files on the backup. Thanks for the sugesstion.
